| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2009 Bottle from Secret Santa. Nose is heavy on the toffee/caramel, with some woodiness and a little grapefruit. taste is malt-forward and yeasty to start, with a piney bitterness that lingers on the finish and coats the mouth. Not their best offering. Thanks, santa. eboats (901), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2009 A very grapefruit bouquet with other citrus aromas. Quite pungent with some floral and pine notes. Strong floral and pine notes, with a smooth sipping malt body. Good IPA without an overpowering hop character, but instead a great fruity compliment. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Definitely not their best. Now this may be an old bottle, but there is almost no hop in this, and it tastes much more like a lite Barleywine. Pours a hazy amber with 3 mm of beige head. Aroma is caramel. Flavor is bitter, with notes of sweetness in there. DDC does much better with Belgian styles. mikalooch (172), , New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep dark reddish brown with a thick beige head. Hops, toffee, and smoke in the nose. Flavor is hoppy, with undertones of caramel and burnt wood. Very nice carbonation, easy to drink. Overall very good, has a unique element to it. drpimento (883), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 22, 2009 This isn’t bad but not what I expected from the other beers that I’ve had from this brewery. With aggresive pouring I got a smallish off white head and some lace. Color is a hazy brownish medium amber. Aroma is malty, hoppy, and a little caramel/toffee. Flavor is similar but with some heavy yeast. Decent body and great carbonation. Finish is ok, a little bittersweet, not to special. Guess it could be a session, but it’s not a first or second choice for me. BierMonger (10), Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 19, 2009 One of the best IPA’s that I’ve ever had.
Very hoppy nose, lots of citrus. Orange peel, grapefruit, marmalade, pine.
Looks nice, sort of a dark orange colour. Average sized head, average retention and excellent lacing.
Tastes great. Hops dominate without coming across as out of balance. Some caramely malts. Grapefruit, oranges, guava nectar. Good amount of bitterness.
Medium bodied. Good carbonation.
Overall, I’d say that it’s one worth seeking out if you haven’t had it yet. One of the best NWP IPA’s I’ve ever had. PWheatley (50), , Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 15, 2009 On tap at DDC. Pours an orange/amber with a thin head that lasted until the bottom with excellent lacing. The aroma was light with hops, i expected more, but it was a pleasant change from the over hopping most NA brewers do. It was moderately bitter, with a lengthy after taste. A very tasty IPA which tastes better on tap than from the bottle. Savvy1982 (328), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a rich "IPA amber" with a thick off-white head and superior lacing. This is a very graceful and delicate IPA that still has the muscle and the IBUs where it counts. Rich and powerful on the nose, spruce, juniper, resin, grapefruit, and floral aspects of the hops are all represented, along with the barest hint of the malt beneath. Flavour is rich and expressive, and feels very lifted in the mouth, spicy, righ, and piney, with many layers of hops. An excellent IPA.
