Just saying. Pours a nice darker goldish amber with a large rocky white head. The aroma smacks of American style IPA-ness, great grapefruity piney hops with some nice caramalt underneath. Flavour has a great hop bite upfront met with some good malty sweetness and then a hoppy flavoured finish and aftertaste without the same initial bitter bite. The body has a nice thicker feel to it but is still light and only has a trace of the ABV. Earthy aftertaste. Lingering flavour of awesomeness (sometimes refered to as hops). Probably the closest thing I’ve had from a Canadian brewer to a true West Coast styled IPA. Super solid beer.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 15, 2009 On tap at DDC. Pours an orange/amber with a thin head that lasted until the bottom with excellent lacing. The aroma was light with hops, i expected more, but it was a pleasant change from the over hopping most NA brewers do. It was moderately bitter, with a lengthy after taste. A very tasty IPA which tastes better on tap than from the bottle. Savvy1982 (318), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a rich "IPA amber" with a thick off-white head and superior lacing. This is a very graceful and delicate IPA that still has the muscle and the IBUs where it counts. Rich and powerful on the nose, spruce, juniper, resin, grapefruit, and floral aspects of the hops are all represented, along with the barest hint of the malt beneath. Flavour is rich and expressive, and feels very lifted in the mouth, spicy, righ, and piney, with many layers of hops. An excellent IPA. Bov (5478), Bienne, Switzerland
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 6, 2009 courtesy of Antonio Ruiz - hazy reddish-amber colour with a little foam left; a fair hoppiness showing notes of quince marmalade, flowery with a touch of raspberries; medium to full malt body; subtle carbonation, a plain and solid bitterness, long and bitter aftertaste of quinces, quite dry - superb piscator34 (1131), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 2, 2009 Bottled sample. Deep orange and somewhat muddy in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas are of pine sap, white grapefruit peel, and some mild caramel. Begins slightly abrasive in the mouth with lots of wood, tannic tea, and dried leaf notes. Some honey-sweet malts and citrus notes achieve somewhat of a balance before the finish. Medium bodied. Skewed a bit too much towards the wood-like and not enough towards the citrusy hop elements. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Slightly hazy ruby-red body with a frothy light-tan head. Some mild carbonation. Good head retention, but not that much lacing. A robust grapefruit hop aroma, with a pretty pronounced caramel background. The taste is bursting with juicy grapefruit and caramel notes. A very solid hop bite, with some subtle pine notes. The bitterness from the hops is very well-balanced by the sweetness from the caramel malts, so it’s not hard to manage the hoppiness at all. The finish is all about bitter-sweet grapefruit notes and is a bit dry. Very easily-drinking and smooth on the palate. The best Canadian-brewed American IPA I’ve tasted to date! mcberko (158), British Columbia, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 26, 2009 330mL bottle - pours a cloudy dark orange with a minimal head. Fantastic aroma of strong hops, spice and raisins. Intensely hoppy flavour, matching the aroma a lingering bitter aftertaste. Outstanding IPA. chainman (104), Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Bottle, LCBO. Pours cloudy red-brown. Thin, creamy head sticks around with nice lacing. The smell is raisins and spice - before tasting this beer you know it’s good. No disappointment here - this beer delivers a very full flavour up front, a lot of hops, and an almost Abbey quality that lets you savour it more than a simple pale ale. Apples hidden somewhere not too far beneath. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, and you can sense the hops trying to make up for it. Despite the thinness, this is definitely one to try. A good beer to savour, and at this price, thankfully easy to take your time with! Would absolutely recommend. darn1207 (575), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 16, 2009 11.5oz bottle from greens in atlanta (I think). Interesting look for an ipa - a murky dark amber-orange pour with a finger off-white head and spotty lacing. Aroma is a big mix of sweet roasted caramel malts and floral citrus hops. The taste leans toward the toasty malt and bready side of things up front - then balanced up a bit with grassy and slightly resiny hop bitterness. There is a lot going on with this one and I wouldn’t say it’s a typical take on the American ipa. The texture is nice and full with a hint of carbonation. Tough one to rate -- as an ipa, it’s not quite what I go for normally -- as some random beer, it’s well constructed and interesting. Always top marks for that.
