| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2005 Saved this one for last at my session at DdC. This is IMHO a mainstream stout. Well made, good ingredients but nothing stands out...just a good stout. Tapped midnight black with a cocoa meringe cap. Intense coffee/cocoa nose roated malt and some licorice. Silky mouth feel, charred/roasty body with cocoa undertones...hops add bittering that punches through in the finish. A good draft of this black elixer will set your day staright. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 19, 2005 Nice aroma of mainly coffee and some chocolate. Great silky smooth texture. Flavor is sweet, creamy coffee. This stout is a great stout and incredibly drinkable. I was incredibly bummed that my montreal vacation started just 4 days after they ran out of peche mortel, but this helped out my dissapointment a bit.
