Pours black with a beautiful average size lasting creamy tan head -- gorgeous! In fact, I’m quite impressed with how good all the Dieu Du Ciel! beers look. Very mild aroma of sweet malt, hops and...I don’t know, it smells nice but the aroma’s very faint and hard to smell. Great flavour of coffee, chocolate, dark roasted malt, some hops and a bitter finish. Nice creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied. This is a great Stout, top-notch stuff. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 8, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Thick, creamy, relentless, extremely appetizing head. Dark black/brown color, aromas of coffee, chocolate, dark roasted grains/malts. Flavors were similar: hints of coffee and chocolate, but dominated by nutty roasted malts/grains. A great, great stout. I’m not a huge fan of the stout in general but this brew was just amazing. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 3, 2006 Updated: Jul 8, 2006[tap @ the brewpub] Pure black appearance. Topped with a thick, whipped cream-like head. I wanted to just sit and stare at it for a while. Flavors are dark chocolate, subtle coffee and some serious roasted malt/chicory notes as well. Extremely smooth, almost silky texture. Finishes with some slight hops and vanilla sweetness. For me, this was the peak of my DDC experience. An incredible brew. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA

The aroma was chocolate with coffee and some sweet vanilla. The taste was chocolate with a hint of coffee. There was also some anise. eaglefan538 (2394), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Great thick tan head - appeared to be on nitrogen - over top of a dark black stout. Coffee aroma that turned into a strong coffee flavor. The coffee analogy to Young’s Double Chocolate Stout. Enjoyable. Get it if you can. vidbellegueule (30), Canada
