Near cloudy golden body with a tall heavy cream colored head. Decent lace. Initial scents of dried flowers, vanilla and mild spices. Hops dominated the aromas in the beginning but as the volatiles are driven off some milk caramel, light fruit and wheat lay underneath. Some light pencil eraser rubber seems to pop up and distract a touch. Very nice start with pale malt, mild rose and light coriander and touch of citrus. The spice and citrus take over in the middle and things become more acidic and "rough". The front is so soft and smooth. that the finish and linger are somewhat a letdown. Linger has thistle and weed flavors along with a touch of light pepper. Just nice.

Sep 5, 2008 Just not big on this one. Aroma is extremely yeasty...with spice, hoppy presence, and a touch of citrus. Flavor is peppery, with citrus and freshly baked bread evident. Don’t think this beer knows what it wants to be when it grows up.

Sep 4, 2008 341 ml bottle, courtesy of my brother - exploded out of the bottle and pours a cloudy creamed honey yellow with a large bone coloured head. Amazing aroma - hugely hoppy, but with a real Belgian presence - peach, apricot, pear, a bit of booze - god, this is nice. Very full in the mouth, and the carbonation level is excellent. More fruits in the flavour, but darker than in the nose - plum, prune, a hint of anise. A truly beautiful beer - Dieu du Ciel! continues to impress.

Sep 2, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy light gold with very large, sticky, off-white head. The aroma is spicy, with some ripe mango, lemon zest, sweet bread, and coriander. The flavor starts off on a peppery note, then comes that mango again, with some strong, earthy spice. The finish is zesty with some yeasty and peppery notes that linger for a while. Pretty tasty beer.

Sep 2, 2008 Cloudy golden body with a massive, rocky white head.
Tropical fruit yeast character with a fair amount of spice in the nose. Peppery.
Pepper, tropical fruit, honey with a nice play between the sweet malt and the herbal and spicy notes.
Carbonation is quite lively to the benefit of this beer. Light on the tongue. Finishes relatively dry.
Highly recommended. One of the most enjoyable of the style I’ve had.
