Commercial Description:
Équinoxe du Printemps (French for "spring equinox") is the quintessential marriage of two great traditions: beer brewing in Scotland, and maple syrup production in Quebec. At the first draught, the mouth is overcome by woody, malty flavours, sustained by a discrete touch of sweetness. The aftertaste brings about the flavours of maple, which are sufficiently present to be appreciated, but never overwhelming the typical flavours of a Scotch Ale.

Equinoxe du printemps is brewed only once a year in January. It is aged for two months in order to attain a perfect balance in taste. Then, it is sold starting March 21st, until stocks last.

Pours a translucent light peachy copper with a one finger light tan head. The nose is sweet and malty, peaty, lightly smoky, fruity with lots of esters, yeasty. Flavor is sweet, lots of caramel, yeast, light alcohol, spicy, fruity Belgian feel. Gets to be cloying with some time and warmth but the initial impression is good. Spicy palate with light alcohol and a nice carbonation.

A good scottish ale that is made better with the maple. It isn’t the strongest flavor but blends well to create a nice maple toffee that lingers on the tongue.

11.5 oz bottle, label states that it has 9.5% ALC/VOL. Color is a hazy brown with a touch of amber. Carbonating is very good with a thick tight off white head that clings to the sides my glass with beautiful lacing. Aroma is a sweet maple scent with yeast and alcohol showing. Taste is clean, smooth and a little sweet. Starting with a medium body it goes down easy with a smooth clean feel. Finish is just amazing with dried fruit flavors coming out and a nice Belgian yeast taste then a gentle maple and I think a little orange drifts by near the end. After taste is a little more citrus with the Belgian flavors riding along for a bit and the alcohol showing to cap things off. Holy crap this is a good brew, one of the best Scotch Ales I have ever, and the best brew with Maple I know of. It’s big and complex yet easy to drink and comes off clean. The Sky God put heaven in a bottle.

Pours clear bronze with a small rocky tan head. The aroma has very toasted malt with some medicinal and mineral traits, alcohol heat and some sweetness along with a touch of maple syrup. Medium / thick smooth body with light carbonation. The flavor starts off sweeter and maltier than the aroma with the mineral / medicinal traits still there, but not as forceful. There is thick rich toasted malt and maple underlying. The finish has more maple and more alcohol. This is okay, but not really worth the price.

Bottle. Decent beer, not really my thing though. Dark amber pour, off-white head. Caramel, sweet malt, banana, maple syrup, caramelized sugars, and some dark fruit notes. A little earthy. To sweet for me.
