Commercial Description:
Équinoxe du Printemps (French for "spring equinox") is the quintessential marriage of two great traditions: beer brewing in Scotland, and maple syrup production in Quebec. At the first draught, the mouth is overcome by woody, malty flavours, sustained by a discrete touch of sweetness. The aftertaste brings about the flavours of maple, which are sufficiently present to be appreciated, but never overwhelming the typical flavours of a Scotch Ale.

Equinoxe du printemps is brewed only once a year in January. It is aged for two months in order to attain a perfect balance in taste. Then, it is sold starting March 21st, until stocks last.

Bottle thanks to Gouglouburp!
Pours ruby-mahogany, small white head. Nose has vanilla, caramel, and dark malt. Flavor is very balanced, great stuff: maple, dry wood, earth, and alcohol. Sticky and slightly salty, the palate is big without being cumbersome, some nice maple balanced with wood through the finish. A controlled, balanced scotch ale, which doesn’t seem to be easy, but this one succeeds, especially in the flavor.

Bottle, $2.75 in Montreal. Pours brown with a wispy white head; classic Scotch Ale. Aroma is herbal, earthy, and a touch caramelly. Flavor starts with rich caramel and dark fruit, then reveals soft maple syrup. Some soft roasts in there too. Aftertaste is long, warming, and complexly sweet. Good beer overall, though it doesn’t quite capture a balance of flavors the way some of the best Scotch Ales have.

Bottle at home from Copenhagen ... light brown ... small off white head ... almost no nose but a light malt ... over fizzy ... rich toffee malts ... light hop... quite prominant alcohol ...Id not have guessed the Maple syrup but it can be identified once i knew it was there ...

341 ml bottle. Dark ruby red brown colour. Medium-sized white fine-laced head. Rich and rounded malty aroma with lots of caramel. Sharp hop bitterness in the background that balances the otherwise rich malts. Finishes with a sharp hop bitterness. Overall a great and complex beer that is very enjoyable.

Bottle 341ml. @ home.
Light light unclear dark amber orange color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, fruity - spicy, maple syruo, licorice, sweet burnt sugar, light alcoholic. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to light, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20081022]
