Commercial Description:
Équinoxe du Printemps (French for "spring equinox") is the quintessential marriage of two great traditions: beer brewing in Scotland, and maple syrup production in Quebec. At the first draught, the mouth is overcome by woody, malty flavours, sustained by a discrete touch of sweetness. The aftertaste brings about the flavours of maple, which are sufficiently present to be appreciated, but never overwhelming the typical flavours of a Scotch Ale.

Equinoxe du printemps is brewed only once a year in January. It is aged for two months in order to attain a perfect balance in taste. Then, it is sold starting March 21st, until stocks last.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber body with a white head. Sweet and malty with a maple taste of dark fruit. Getting a lot of etoh in this, a bit syrupy. Interesting beer but im not crazy about it.

2002 bottle at the DDC 10th Anniversary Party. Very sweet, fishy aroma, some booze. Some nice sweetness in the flavor, a bit of maple, brown sugar. Good, thick body. Doesn’t taste too old. The maple adds a nice touch. I’d like to have this fresh.

Dark ruby color, small off-white head. Plums, dark fruits in the nose. Dark fruity, alcoholic, plummy. Thin finish. Very Belgisch brew, although it was said to be "Scottish".

2002 bottle, shared by willblake @ DDC 10th Anniversary Party. Thanks, Jon! Pours a bright, clear honey-edged amber color; light-tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Very generous aroma: plenty of dried fruits, honey, and red fruitiness; dates and raisins; some supportive oxidation. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy dried fruits, dried caramel, and viscous, sweet honeyed notes; very enjoyable, very generous scotch ale; some butterscotch, restrained sweetness, nicely composed. Lengthy finish: caramel, dried fruits and plenty of honey-tinged sweet malts; pleasantly sweet.

Bottled. Pours hazy deep amber with a little off-white head. Sweet caramel nose with malt. Sweet flavour with malt, wood and ahorn syrup. The finish is more dry with some alcohol bite. Full bodied. Nice and blanced.

(Bottled) Hazy red-amber with a small head. Toffee-caramely aroma. Flavor of toffee-syrupy malt, and some warming, barley-winous alcohol. Maple syrup clearly feels in this one, but fits in pretty well. Medium-bodied with lowish carbonation. Somewhat alcoholic overall.

Bottle, bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense.
Pours deep, hazy red-brown with a small, unimpressive, fizzy, off-white film head. Good fruity aroma, some berries, a good dose of caramel, some toffee, lightly roasted. Medium carbonation, impressive, oily mouthfeel. Great flavour. Lots of dryish chocolate, some roasted malts, toffee and caramel. Some fruitiness again. Good hoppy finish with a generous dose of spiciness. Great beer.
