Commercial Description:
German inspired sour wheat beer. The sourness, which is quite obvious and dominant in this beer, is obtained by letting the unboiled wort go sour for several days. The end result is a refreshing beer where the sourness is the domineering flavour. This beer is only available once a year in very limited quantities on our anniversary day in September.

Not the most pleasant beer to look at, it pours an apparently flat muddy golden color, headless. Upon smelling, it is immediately juicy, tart and lemony with obvious wheat, graham crackers and white pineapple juice reminiscent. It is fairly sour, lactic though definitely not as much as it could be and the complexity seems a bit underdone. Hay-like, dry, quenching, but still leaving me hoping for more. Maybe next year.

I think it’s hazy/murky/cloudy light gold bodywith a minimal head. Could be my eyes acting up after a nigt of awesome beers at the 6th Anniversary party. Sour bitter aromas with some grain-being-stored-in-the-silo barnyard mustiness. Acidic but the lemony orange flavours are very refreshing and thirst-quenching. Lightly sour finish is very dry. And very good.

Murly golden colour with large white head. Aroma was quite tart and sour, fruit and wheat. Flavour was sour, lemons and orange citrus, lots of acidity. Medium body, high carbonation. Finishes quite sour and dry. Very thirst quenching and refreshing. This brewery is so good it scares me.

Probably the best Berliner Weisse I’ve had that didn’t come from Germany-and better than most from there. Dead on for aroma and tart flavor, like a "sour patch kid" candy, ,but less sweet. Would’ve liked to try this with a little syrup added. A refreshing palate cleanser among the malt monsters of the pub.

Served neat. Hazy blonde color. Sour fruit aroma with wheat. Sour flavor of wheat, maybe spicy too. Sour finish that leaves a chalky feeling. Medium body, soft carbonation. Very good and refreshing.

Served without Schuss. Hazy white body with some greenish glints and a wonderful and lasting creamy head. Aroma is relatively light and carries floral and herbal hints. Taste is typically sour and has some banana and citrusy notes. Although the final is heavily bitter, it is lenght remains moderate.

Re-rated at 6th anniversary party 11-Sep-04. Tart, yeasty character. Excellent wheat flavour shines through. Straw coloured and hazy with big white head that lasts nicely. Thirst quenching and flavourful with a pretty big mouthfeel from the wheat and high carbonation to excite the tongue. Posted new score as I have gotten to know the style a bit better.

Original rating (7-4-7-3-14=3.5) Tart, citrus yeast aroma. Opaque straw colour with strong white head. Mildly spicy, tart citrus flavour. Strong carbonation. Sampled 2003.

Pale cloudy straw colour, big white head. Citrussy aroma, a hint of breadiness, a bit woody. Refreshing tartness, fine carbonation, a nice subtlety in the flavor, a bit champagne-like, come lemon notes, long lasting acidity. I would not have minded a bit more tartness though.
