Upon smelling, it is immediately juicy, tart and lemony with obvious wheat, graham crackers and white pineapple juice reminiscent. It is fairly sour, lactic though definitely not as much as it could be and the complexity seems a bit underdone. Hay-like, dry, quenching, but still leaving me hoping for more. Maybe next year. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 18, 2003 Updated: Sep 11, 2005(Served neat, taken neat)...A well-fed, silky body graciously releases an uncorseted citrus acidity...Sweet, somewhat lactic undertones impinge, but rather decide to carry the tartness a bit further...A gorgeously munificent cleansing fluid...4/5
The 2005 version was a lot wheatier in flavor and body, acitively lactic, and moderately acidic...You could almost bite that wheat...A strikingly different rendition of the same recipe, still pleasant and quenching, but maybe more approachable than it was...3.6/5 tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 4, 2004 Updated: Sep 22, 2004Re-rated at 6th anniversary party 11-Sep-04. Tart, yeasty character. Excellent wheat flavour shines through. Straw coloured and hazy with big white head that lasts nicely. Thirst quenching and flavourful with a pretty big mouthfeel from the wheat and high carbonation to excite the tongue. Posted new score as I have gotten to know the style a bit better.
Original rating (7-4-7-3-14=3.5) Tart, citrus yeast aroma. Opaque straw colour with strong white head. Mildly spicy, tart citrus flavour. Strong carbonation. Sampled 2003. Radek Kliber (3950), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 13, 2005 Almost non present crown, hazy gold ash below. Sweet grape, sour nose, late sugar finish. Medium, light bodied, sour but rather flat and gives impression of being a bit simplistic. Late sweet grape accent won’t save this beer. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
