Commercial Description:
If you love really good coffee and really good beer equally, you will be thrilled with Péché Mortel. If coffee isn’t your cup of tea, and caffeine makes you bounce off the ceiling, then just put the bottle down and find something else to drink. This beer is all about coffee. Indeed, you may have seen ‘coffee stouts’ before, but no brewer has ever married coffee and beer so naturally and seamlessly.
And this isn’t just any stout, but an imperial stout, which means that it is modeled on the strong, rich, and very complex stouts that were made in England in the 19th and early 20th centuries exclusively for shipment to Russia, where they were a special favorite at the court of the Czars.

(Bottled) Almost black with a small, lacy and beige head. Extremely strong ashtray aroma with some licorice, but no alcohol. Burned-malty, very ashy flavor with tar, seaweed, and an ashy-sticky barley wine finish. Quite full-bodied, smooth-carbonated palate. It is strange how a beer so ashy can actually be this pleasant. Beautifully crafted!

11.5oz beer: Viscous black pour with a thick, mocha colored head. The aroma offers a beautiful balance of sweet chocolate and roasted coffee - working together well. The coffee is slightly more bitter in the body, working with the lightly bitter hops. Lots of fudge, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla beans follow. Finishes with a scorched java note. Very good.

Thanks to bitbucket!!! Pours a nice black color with a small brown head that sticks to the glass with each sip. Aroma is purely coffee and bitter chocolate. Flavor is coffee, burnt malts, bitter dark chocolate and some hops. It is smooth and full bodied. I do taste some of the alcohol, but not too much of a burn. Very nice brew indeed. Glad I finally got to try it!!

From the 12 oz bottle. Poured adark brown with a nice big brown head. Aroma mild coffee, raosted malts, dark fruits, molasses, chocolate. Flavor same as a aroma, the alcohol is nice and smooth. good beer
