Commercial Description:
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Draft at brewpub. Black color, thick brown head, coffee aroma. This is the imperial coffee stout! The robust coffee flavor is heightened and sweetened by the over abundant presence of alcohol. Truly a great beer, just a tad to high alcohol for my taste.

Bottle, 34,1cl - Pitch black beer with a large coffee brown head. The aroma, like sniffing right into an ashtray where coffee, dark chocolate and charcoal has been burned and grinded down. The flavor is as dry as an espresso mixed with some vanilla and chocolate. Truly amazing experience. Make sure that u aren’t planning on drinking or eating anything after this though. Peche Mortel, the destroyer of other beers...

This is one of the riches most powerful brews I have had, notes:Super rich body, nose of super rich coffee, heavy espresso and some dark bitter chocolate. Taste is very heavy. A bit too much alcohol for me and has more bitterness than I expected.

Taster at Le Festival Bieres et Saveurs Chambly 08. The color is black with a thick beige head. The aroma is of coffee. The taste is of espresso, coffee, malt and more malt. This one really packs a punch.

Bottle - Poured a very dark black/brown in color with a small tan head that faded to cover the beer. Aroma is lots of coffee and darkly roasted malts, some of them providing a slight sweetness. .Flavor is slightly sweet and very strong in coffee and (too) darkly roasted malts... a bit burnt tasting. Thick palate. Finish is sweet and heavy with coffee. Not as good as I had hoped for (based on ratings), but make no mistake, this is still very good beer.

Bottle @ Gingerman.... from mr . Jaffey. Thanks !! Pours black with brownish highlights and an espresso crema like head. Aroma is roasted malts and sweet coffee. Mouthfeel is thick and satisfying, look at the glass and the color is impenetrable, no light shines through. Serious imperial stout, seriously delicious. Would drink it all day and night if I could !

Bottle at Novare Res. Yes. Yes. Yes. This beer pours a dark dark blackish color with a dark brown head. You can tell this puppy means business. The aroma is well sweet malt and coffee. The flavor is the same sweet malt and coffee. But the marriage in this beer is what’s important. The flavors meld together in perfect sweet harmony. It’s like liquid coffee beer bliss, this is utterly fantastic.
