KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Oct 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours with a no-light dark body with an olive green head and a straight-up, no foolin’ unground coffee bean nose. Flavor is deep, unfiltered black coffee with a chocolate malt backbone. Superb mouthfee; thick, coating and unforgettable. This isn’t a beer; it’s an alcoholic chocolate milkshake. gator2683 (133), Anchorage, Alaska, USA Oct 25, 2008 black pour with nice dark brown head. cocoa and coffee aroma, smells kind of bitter. thick body intense coffee flavor followed up by a long bitter dark chocolate finish trevor211 (500), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 22, 2008 Wow. This one pours black, with a mocha-colored dissipating head. Aroma is of stale coffee - like espresso grounds that were used and then left out for half an hour. Some acidic notes of soy sauce, but more bitter chocolate and even a bit of charcoal. Palate is syrupy, but I didn’t mind that - a beer like this should be thick. Flavor is right on the nose - espresso, bitter chocolate, etc. Very nice - very tasty, but probably a little heavy on the coffee notes for my liking. Bhops (329), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 21, 2008 Bottle thanks to mar. Pours black with some reddish tint? Thick sustained head, looks like wheat pancake batter. Aroma of coffee, dough with hops underneath. Flavor of heavy dark roasted coffee, raspberry? vanilla, smokey/woody flavor. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Great beer, looking forward to trying this and it did not disappoint. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Oct 19, 2008 Rich chocolate and coffee aroma. Dark black pour. Pretty good beer, although from the hype I thought it would be even better. Slight let down. Smooth flavor, although the burnt coffee aspect and lack of complexity do not make this stand out amongst its peers. I’m glad I got to try this, but too expensive for me to buy again. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Oct 19, 2008 Bottle. Poured black in color with nice big foamy tan head. Aroma was coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Taste was similar but very well balanced and smooth with nice texture. Finished nice and enjoyed a lot. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Oct 18, 2008 Updated: Sep 2, 2009Bottle from AJ’s in Scottsdale courtesy of nbutler11. Thanks, Lt. I will say first that as the only sub-4 rating on this page I am sorry. This is a great beer that I am not interested in having again because frankly Founder’s BA Kentucky Breakfast eats this beer’s lunch in terms of coffee content and overall excitement. The presiding feature of Peche is the aroma of instant coffee crystals. I respect the hell out of the texture, which is very course, but for me this was very one-note. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Oct 17, 2008 Poured from an 11.5oz bottle and served in a snifter. This stout poured an opaque black with some cola colored highlights around the edges of the glass. A thick, spongey head of dark tan foam lingered for a bit, then settled into a thin, lasting layer. Excellent lacing. The aroma of the beer was made up of freshly ground coffee, molasses, and also some caramelized sugar. The flavor was rich and bold. High-quality French roast coffee dominated, but notes of bittersweet chocolate, caramel, and molasses showed up as well. Not really any noticable alcohol. Delicious! The mouthfeel was full-bodied and had light carbonation. Creamy smooth. This one’s all about the coffee, but there are enough other elements going on to make this highly enjoyable. If you love coffee, this stout’s for you.
