jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA Jul 27, 2008 11.5oz bottle, pour is a nice black, not motor oil though, thinner not as syrup, but the big creamy head that forms is something to behold. definitely sealed the perfect appearance for me... smell starts like Founders Breakfast stout, but also adds a touch of tobacco smoke??? which i find weird but acceptable to me, taste is more of the some loaded with coffee, chocolate and traditional stout type flavorings, but that tobacco/smoke is still present... hmm interesting, but still darn good. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Jul 27, 2008 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Black with puffy brown head and full lace. Frshly ground coffee and dark chocolate aroma. Rich dark chocolate and strong espresso flavor with mild underlying bitterness and surprisingly dry finish. Medium-full body and medium-low carbo. Excellent mouthfeel. Complex and rich but a great imperial stout (Yeti, Ten-Fiddy, Rasputin) doesn’t need to be overwhelmingly coffee flavored. I guess coffee makes this one different, but I wouldn’t drink it regularly. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 27, 2008 Had at International beer festival in seattle. Pours very dark black with filmy brown head that lasts. Aroma is sweet and very earthy. Lots of charcole in both aroma and flavor. Mouthfeel suprisingly light. Flvor had lots of sweet slightly dry chocolate that totally disguises abv. Very nice balance. PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jul 26, 2008 Updated: Jul 28, 2008Thanks Santa! OMG, a new candidate for darkest beer I’ve ever seen. Barely showed anything but opaque black even at the pour. Produced a voluminous thick brown head. Aroma is ripe with coffee coffee coffee, plus a little chocolate chip cookie. Nice, the palate is full and velvety with a rich dry roasted malt along with plenty of iced espresso flavor. Light acidity in the coffee. Beats the crap out of many coffee stouts that seem weak and watery, as this is neither. Long lingering coffee flavor, along with a resinous hop and black malt. plovmand (1590), Helsinge, Denmark Jul 26, 2008 Bottle. A black beer with a nice brown head. Aroma is coffee all the way with some roasted malts in the background. Flavour is cold espresso with chocolate, vanilla and caramel. Its fantastic. Very creamy cocoa like palate. I need more of this. LearninBeer (194), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Jul 25, 2008 The aroma is coffee, a little toasted caramel. The head is light brown, creamy, mostly diminishing with good lacing. The color is black. The initial flavor is coffee, bitters - nice. Hits the back of the tongue with a nice long finish. The body is light to medium, the texture creamy, just a hint watery and the carbonation soft. zappafan99 (462), Ascension Island Jul 25, 2008 Taste 7/8 bottle(date on bottle not marked) Looks: Dark opaque brown with a thin yeasty clinging head. Aroma: Roast, mocha, freshly ground coffee. Taste: Full flavored coffee with acidity. Mild hops spice, felt along with the alcohol. Very smooth. Really nice, no unneeded flavors. Great for coffee fans. blipp (1631), Newark, New Jersey, USA Jul 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours near black with a tan head. Coffee/espresso aroma, with dark chocolate and floral hop notes. Medium/full body. Flavor is roasted malt and coffee beans, with a light smoky note. Also has fruit and dark chocolate. Finished with a lingering bitterness from both floral hops and roasted malt. Very nice.
