Very dark brown to black with a coffee colored head. The flavor is of coffee, chocolate, burnt malt, and some hops. Very thick on the palate and a coffee aftertaste. Surprise... it’s made with coffee. It’s ok.. nick76 (2645), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Pours a black color with a brown head. Aroma is strong of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, molasses, and caramel. Flavor is pretty strong with coffee at first that gives way to the other roasted flavors of chocolate and molasses. Finishes bitter with not much alcohol warming as I thought there would be. Slipstream (745), USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Updated: Oct 20, 2008Another big thank you to Adrian for a bottle of this stuff. Cool, artistic label with a spooky female figure hanging out with a green snake. This has a big, fluffy, tan cap on a pitch-black pour, with lots of lacing. There are coffee grounds, hops, and malt in the sweet aroma. The taste is sweet espresso, spruced up with some hops. Smooth, with coffee flavor continuing into the aftertaste. It hides its 9.5 ABV well. A few sips into it, I start wondering how strong the caffeine and alcohol combination buzz is going to be (since this is made with "real, fair-trade coffee"). It could be a good morning-after drink, althou that is something I do not indulge in. This is "pas de question" recommended to those who like coffee-flavored brews - but it is too one-dimensional to be ranked as high as it is. Don’t bother with a glass - put it in a coffee cup. You could even try adding milk. Hank1980 (735), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2008 Pours a very dark brown or black with an average sized tan head, that quickly dissapates with minimal lacing. Aroma of roast coffee, chocolate, malt, light booze, and light hops. Taste is similar and a little sweet. Mouth is heavier than average, but not too thick for the style. Overall, a good imperial stout. hellbilly (1508), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 9, 2008 opaque black body with a creamy hot cocoa colored head. insane retention and lots of spotty lacing left behind. the smell of coffee wafts from the glass long before my nose ever gets to it... medium ground dark roast colombian with hints of dark grain and cream. so much coffee that it begins to smell smoky and ashy as well. the flavor is heavy on the coffee as well... along with astringency, rich roasted grain and chocolate. sour finish akin to a really strong cup of coffee (so strong that it starts to hurt your teeth and stomach!). coffee beans, cream and cocoa linger for a while in the aftertaste. incredibly dry on the palate given how rich and robust this smells and tastes. medium body. soft airy carbonation gives it a light mouth feel. parchingly dry. ..
