Commercial Description:
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

05 bomber with a big thanks to RagallachMC for the trade. Pours deep brown with a medium head. Intense aroma of coffee and chocolate, vanilla and cream. The decadence carries through to the taste; sweet and rich and a bit like tiramisu. 08 12oz - tasted pretty much the same as the 05, but maybe a bit fresher. In truth, the 05 held up extremely well, but the new bottles are the same beer.

Pours black and thick with a thick, beige head. Aroma is strong coffee with a touch of roasted malt. Clings to the the palate and delivers a blast of burnt espresso. Bitter finish. Very complex and very nice.

Pours opaque brown, almost black, with a moderate brown head; looks a lot like a Bell’s Expedition. Nose explodes with chocolate and coffee. Taste of sweet chocolate, bitter espresso, in wonderful balance, but without the strong hop finish of a Bell’s or the clear hop notes of a Storm King. Wonderful big creamy mouth. Really nice beer, loses maybe a point because of the price, 50% more than a Bell’s and more than triple a Storm King.

Bottle gift from Stegosaurus. Beautiful black motor oil pour with generous beige head. Mild aroma of Roast, chocolate and hop. Good mouth feel with a strong but balanced roasted malt flavor a hint of coffee and a nice bitter hop finish. Well done and the cerimonial bottle hump is about to take place.

341ml bottle, no idea where this came from. Pours opaque with a tan head that fell similar to a brew that had nitro pushing it. awesome aromas of fresh coffee, plum, raisin, and licorice. One of the best beers of the year for me.

12 oz bottle Pours pitch black with dark brown highlights and very light tan foam. Aroma of espresso, cocoa, dark chocolate and light alcohol. Rich flavors of espresso, roast malt, bittersweet chocolates and a light hop bitterness. Finishes dry and slightly minerally with a wisp of alcohol then leaves the massive acidic bite and roast of eating a chocolate covered espresso bean. As the glass warms, the coffee and roast explode out of the glass. Rich and silky mouthfeel.

Bottle, thanks to HogTownHarry: Pours a black-oil colour with a slight fawn head. Wow, a coffee-caramel-butterscotch aroma, some alcohol in there too. WOW what a mouthful! Gave me goosebumps, espresso, coffee, dark chocolate, like literally sucking on a coffee bean then knocking back a rich hot chocolate. A nice long chocolate-coffee finish, some alcohol in there too. Wow! A lot going on..

Pours black with light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee, some really nice dark chocolate and subtle hoppiness as well. Ridiculous coffee flavor melds perfectly with dark chocolate, roasted malts, and licorice. Fantastic full body with a dry, bitter finish.
