bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bottle: Shared by glouglouburp @ DLD...big thanks man. Black pour with a minimal tan head. This is just ridiculous...huge espresso and fine dark chocolate nose with some dark malt notes. So well balanced, yet still had the most insanely wonderful coffee taste that I’ve ever had in a beer...some mild chocolate and tobacco notes present as well. Slightly dry, full-bodied mouth feel. Rogueone (506), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Apr 28, 2008 I am so happy someone shared this with me @ DLD. Calling this a ’beer’ seems sort of weak due to its depth. This tasted like a dark, rich french press coffee -- smooth and dry -- with an impressive well-rounded finish of roasted coffee and malts. Haven’t had Geek Breakfast, but this is my favorite coffee-inspired stout thus far. JFURYCAT (782), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 26, 2008 Tasty chocolate flavors with a coffee bitter backbone and some sweetness hidden in between. I found this bottle I purchased at River St. Ale House in Pittston tasty. The bartender told everyone he had the last one. It seems like a well rounded beer with the alcohol hiding around the corner. I’m not sure its that much better than coffee impys like Beer Geek breakfast or Bells but it was damn good. Oh yeah, the palatte rocks-it slithers on my tongue with a nice mix of carbonation and medium to dry mouthfeel. cheeta (858), Langå, Denmark Apr 24, 2008 Roasted malty aroma. Huge, frothy, light brown body. Excellent lacing. Fully lasting longevity. Black body. Heavy bitter and coffee initial flavor. with a long finish duration. Medium palate. GMCC2181 (844), Bear, Delaware, USA Apr 22, 2008 Updated: Oct 18, 2008Bottle shared by Robert. I think the commercial description pretty much sums it up. The only thing I have to add is WOW! Again, I am not even a coffee drinker nor do I like it but this was so well put together you have to like it. I have to pick up a bottle for my self and let it age to see if it can become even better. Thanks robert!*****UPDATE****..I just head my own 12oz bottle to my self, pretty much thought the same thing as I did about the sample. Monster head, good lacing, good aroma of coffee. Taste is nicely roasted malts with a coffee flavor kick. Good texture easy to drink but has a nice thickness to it. Overall... a great beer. illidurit (851), Santa Cruz, California, USA Apr 22, 2008 Bottle courtesy gunhaver. Poured into a snifter. Deepest black with an inch of mocha head. Some scattered wet lacing.
Aroma is excellent, reminds me of a good British coffee porter with all the sweet creamed coffee. Nice bittersweet chocolate takes the sugary edge off it.
Flavor is hugely java-esque, with a bit of oatiness. It’s got that sort of burnt, roasty finish that to me makes a great stout, as opposed to some that are sweet, boozy messes.
Mouthfeel is ridiculous. It has a heavy, creamy body with ample carbonation, but it just vanishes from the palate with an exquisite dryness that coerces the next sip. Outlandishly drinkable. Ahx (3), Canada does not count Apr 21, 2008 Because of Ratebeer.com, i traveled 15km to get a 6 pack of this beer. :)
Nice Dark black coloring with a lil brown head. At first the taste is a bit bitter, but suddenly a smooth rich taste of rosted coffee kicks in. Alcohol free taste. One of the best Stout i tried. GriffinAvenue (395), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA Apr 21, 2008 Bottle. Dark black coloring. No head. Roasted coffee grounds dominate and prominent throughout. Light vanilla hints. Like an alcoholic coffee - what morning coffee should be for those that like a kick. Smooth and easy and not too complex; plays it’s one note very, very well. Nice.
