Commercial Description:
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Pours viscous dark brown, black in the glass, with a medium-thin tan head, fine lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, plum, molasses, oak, with a slight earthy edge. Full bodied, smooth, slightly dry. Strong dark-roast coffee flavor, big malt sweetness up front with chocolate, toffee, pine and grass. Medium bitter finish.

Aroma of coffe, lots of coffe, vanilla and a kind of dusty, metalic sent. The appearance is night black with a nice brown head and great lazing. The flavor is coffe, vanilla and tobacco. The beer is also very bitter. Overall an amazing beer with great coffe taste.

Aroma of stale coffee which thankfully didn’t translate into a stale coffee taste. The 10% was well hidden, which I appreciated. Opened up nicely as the glass got warmer and warmer

Pours a very dark brown with a nice light brown head. Aroma is indeed full of coffee, but a little bit of anise, licorice, and paint thinner also appear; I like the aroma a lot; It has good fumes for under 10%, though well-balanced. Flavor is a pleasant mix of chocolate, coffee and hearty malt. Very drinkable/guzzleable. Thick, rich, elegant mouthfeel. Overall, excellent.

Bonus bottle from FlssmrBrewAlum..Pours black with a mocha head.. Aroma is obviously coffee with some dark chocolate and a slight sweetness...Flavor is ... big surprise coffee (black), dark chocolate, roasted malts and earth.. Just a tad to thin and over carbonated for me but still a awesome brew.

Really sexy thick, black pour. Thin dark brown head. Coffee, coffee, and coffee aromas and a good bit of roastyness. Extremely inviting so far! Intense coffee flavor with some good bitterness on the back of the tongue. Rolls happily along in my mouth. Has a long, flavorful finish. I’m already sad it’s gone.

Pitch black pour. The nose is coffee and deep roasted malt. The flavor is coffee and cream with a subtle sourness that mixes well with the alcohol warmth of the finish. Good juice.
