Aroma is roasty, creamy, chocolatey - and most of all packs a coffee wallop. Flavor is big and roasty with lots of tasty coffee, some cream, and a bit of chocolate. Full bodied with a nice finish - very good, but not one of the "top" Imperial stouts, nor coffee stouts in general IMHO. I’ll take a Founder’s Breakfast any day over this, though this is good (though not all that much value for the $) MrManning (1659), London, Ontario, Canada

Dark, black liquid poured from the 12 oz bottle, and left a frothy, creamy, mocha head that lasted. In the nose, I got freshly brewed black coffee, rich dark chocolate, some vanilla, with a touch of wood smoke and hops. The flavour profile was quite enjoyable to me, as I love coffee. Fresh dark roast with loads of bittering hops, vanilla, dry, bitter dark chocolate, some smoke. Bitter with long lived coffee aftertaste. Creamy, and very drinkable considering the ABV. Quite a treat. Thank you Harry! :) Marsiblursi (1659), Göteborg, Sweden

Intense aromatic coffee bean aroma with vanilla ice cream, green pepper, jalapenos, dusty clothes, ash and parsley. Undertones of cocoa beans. Wonderful coffee bean flavour with a fantastic balanced sweetness. Gently burned. Some vanilla and parsley in the flavour as well. Some green pepper. Tiny hints of creamy dark chocolate. Coffee dry, oily, smooth mouthfeel. Hints of minerals. Near full body. Not overly complex but by far the best coffee Imp out there. NachlamSie (1654), Tennessee, USA

The pour is black with an everlasting dark tan head. Serious coffee going on in the aroma, but it doesn’t completely overtake everything. Rich, defined, roasty coffee is up front with nice level of ash, dark chocolate, and a bit of coconut milk. Mouthfeel is medium heavy, not ridiculous. Excellent delicious coffee makes up the flavor along with subtle sweeter notes of chocolate, toffee to balance out things. I guess I was expecting a heavier, more robust beer, but this is decently big and most certainly delicious.

Bottle. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my other two samples of this beer and picked up a fresh bottle on my last visit to Bruisin’ Ales. Holy cow, this beer is noticeably better fresh. I mean, don’t get me wrong: the older bottles I had were utterly delicious. But upon taking a sniff of this stuff, I was taken aback by just how mouthwatering it is. What is present here that I didn’t notice before is a very sharp, ashy, toasty quality that highlights the coffee aroma perfectly. It brings Breakfast Stout to mind. The palate is heavy and slick, but not monstrous. That rich ashiness is in the flavor again with delightful coffee and mocha. This is just perfectly sharp and bittersweet with a chocolaty finish for balance. The coffee is not overbearing (which wouldn’t necessarily be bad) but imparts discernable depth on this. man. This is just absolutely superb. Butters (1654), Virginia, USA

Nose is massive coffee, and not much else. Flavor is very similar, massively rich, with some chocolate. And a woody quality like licking a stick. This is a great coffee stout. Absolutely hidden abv, and amazing name and label. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA

Pours a murky dark brown to black with thin tan head. Aroma is slightly musty with notes of roasted coffee, chocolate, some faint caramel and toffee sweetness. Flavor is malty and roasted with notes of coffee, chocolate, toffee, raisins, some ripe dark fruits, caramel and hints of molasses. Generally full body with a pleasing roasted coffee finish. Pours a pitch black with one finger tan head. Nose is chocolate, espresso, cocoa and burnt coffee grounds. Palate is dark chocolate, French roast coffee, roasted barley and espresso with a slight hoppy bitterness in the finish. Lots of dark chocolates and coffee, both of which I really like. Creamy mouth feel with nice lacing. Alcohol is well hidden in this slow sipper. A very good impy stout that’s worthy of its lofty reputation. Thanks again Gabe!
