Despite what I have read this is very subtle and smooth. I wasn’t sure how I was gonna feel about this. Everyone hyped this in the begining and then some people naturally fight that hype. I personally enjoyed this very much even though I did not enjoy speedway stout. I managed to get 6 bottles. I am trading off 5. More people need to give this a try if it is going to be a top 50 beer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 20, 2005 22 oz bottle. OVercarbonated. Deep dark brown, huge light brown head. Roasty coffe aroma with a noticeable alcohol component. Sweet roasty coffee flavor. Thick syrupy coffee finish, with a hint of alcohol. This brew is a little to much on the sweet side. This combined with the overcarbonation could lead to aging problems. We will have to see. Definitely not as great as all the hype. And had this after the Thomas Hooker Imperial Porter, which I thought was a much SUPERIOR brew, hands down. Eructoblaster (1497), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 16, 2004 This was the perfect one for my hundreth rating! Its opaque black body carries some nice ruby glints and is topped with a thick creamy and lasting light-brown head. Strong roasted coffee nose. Its coffee taste is delightfully complex and carries some hints of toffee, spices, ginger and tobacco. Thick texture and long bitter final that brings a pleasant warming effect. Alcohol is perfectly hidden. Very close to perfection. Coming to Montréal without having that one is a crime!!! 17thfloor (1493), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Pours near black, a little bit oily, with an unexpected larger beige frothy head. Incredible cinnamon coffee ground aroma with notes of chocolate, raisins and licorice as well. Great coffee flavor that is just sweet enough. Low dry bitterness. I like this better than Bourbon Kentucky Breakfast. Slightly creamy, but somewhat thin, body with low carbonation. This is a very very drinkable IRS. tomthompson89 (1489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Poured a deep dark black with an average light brown creamy head in a good sized glass chalice. This reminded me a lot of Founders BS but a little bit thinner and with a touch more carbonation. Aroma is chocolate, espresso, coffee, tobacco. The flavor is an awesome mix of coffee, espresso, tobacco and alcohol. I can’t say enough about this beer it is phenominal. Imagine drinking a chocolate fudge liquor sundae and thats waht this beer is. redlight (1486), Winter Park, Florida, USA
