Two fingers in size. Aroma is iced coffee with roasted notes, whiskey, and dark fruit. Flavor is delicious and complex. Strong coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol, raisins. Feel is smooth and powdery. Flavors welded together beautifully as temp rose. This beer is incredibly well crafted and is absolutely delicious. A world class effort. RCL (1480), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 27, 2008 Pours black as night with a light brown head. Aroma is straight espresso. Flavor adds a little complexity with cocoa nibs, and almost a black tea tannin aspect to the finish. Very nice. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA

Quite interesting aroma, a different type of coffee aroma, more of the coffee beans than liquid coffee like I’m used to getting. Also some molasses, chocolate, some roast, and some cherry. Medium to full bodied, not the biggest of stouts, but very well hidden alcohol and if I had tons more I could easily drink and drink and drink. This is a very unique (read: excellent) beer and it kicks the shit out of Speedway (although I wouldn’t mind giving Speedway another shot now that I’ve tried this lovely beer). 8/5/9/4/17
On tap: blows the bottle version away. I smelled this beer for literally almost 20 minutes. Coffee, vanilla, cocoa, mocha, espresso. God, this is heavenly. Full bodied, yet very drinkable, no alcohol, smooth beyond smooth. Shit, I’d go back to Montreal just for this. TheEpeeist (1468), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Feb 16, 2008 22.3 oz, bottled 2005. My 700th rating. I was going to include this in my top-rated stouts blind tasting series but decided to drink the four from the coffee-ish group over the next week to better enjoy each. Dark brown with a settling tan head. Nose is dusty coffee and dark chocolate with a touch of boozy raisin. Medium body with tongue buzzing carb. Taste is like sucking on dark roast Sumatran coffee beans. Some plum and grassy, bitter licorice. An elegant coffee showcase. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Aug 4, 2005 On tap at DDC. This batch, from what I understand, will be bottled and released in the US in the fall of2005.
Black w/ lasting, thick creamy finger of brown foam. Excellent lace. Wonderful aroma of fresh roasted espresso over thick creamy dark chocolate w/ just a hint of vanilla & oak. Thick, soft, creamy feel. Flavour is sweet, w/ a cappuccino/coffee cake-like quality. Coffee dominates profile for sure, but chocolate rounds flavours nicely. Surprisingly, this beer, though complex, is not overly so. It does, however, bring together the flavours almost perfectly. Dixen (1465), Flagstaff, Arizona, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 4, 2005 Aroma is just one huge espresso bomb, smells like freshly ground coffee, very dry and quite dusty. Jet black body with a small brown ring, hell it even looks like espresso. Coffee all over the flavor, some nice bitterness, extremely dry finish. A fantastic beer! Pours a dark black color with a brown foamy head. seems quite fizzy and carbonated. Nose is tons of mocha and malt. very heavy. Taste is very creamy and also quite thick. again, big mocha up front with java mixing in. finishes with light fizzy bitterness in the back of your throat. It is a little bit of overload and not much variety here, one distinct flavor and aroma right in your face. no comploexity and seems very one dimensional, but very well done. yobdoog (1460), Woodridge NY, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Mar 27, 2009 This is one of the riches most powerful brews I have had, notes:Super rich body, nose of super rich coffee, heavy espresso and some dark bitter chocolate. Taste is very heavy. A bit too much alcohol for me and has more bitterness than I expected.
