| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Traded bottle. Pours oil black with a medium brown head. Huge aroma of burt malt, dry ground coffee and a little chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel with flavours of super bitter coffee, baking chocolate and some smoke. Good but maybe a little heavy on the coffee bitterness for my tastes. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 9, 2007 Thank you to Holdenn for sharing this beauty. Black opaque body with large tan creamy head. Aroma of coffee, a little sour funk and roasted malt. First flavor that hits your mouth is the strong coffee but little by little you pick up the sour cherries, burnt dark malt and lots of dark fruit. Nice full body as well. Overall A very good beer. Thanks Matt, I wish you well as you get ready to walk down the aisle. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Black body, thick brown head, lacing; Very pleasant deep dry a little green nose, roasted and relaxed; Soft textured body with an unfitting sharp carbonation, lacks fill and power to fit the amount of bitterness even though it ain’t huge; Medium long finish with to little aroma and to little fill. Alright but nothing like I expected. TChrome (1299), Bedford, Texas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 7, 2005 Beer pours basically black with a massive beige colored head that is totally retained. Aroma is 4 degrees of coffee, cold coffee, expresso, wet coffee grounds, and on other, just a hint of chocolate showing through all of the coffee goodness. Flavor is more expresso, cold coffee, earth. The finish is dry and chalky. I really would like to try the tap version, because the bottled version definetely doesn’t measure up to Expedition, which is my reference Impy stout. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 1, 2008 POurs a nice black color with a brown color head, not as viscus as i would have predicted. Aroma is of coffee, strong burnt black coffee. Flavor is pretty much the ame, strong burnt coffee, some smoke and a nice dark chocolate hidden in there. Very interesting stout. golubj (1290), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2008 bottle. viscous black pour with caramel brown head. aroma is lots of roast and coffee and cream. flavor is similar, acidity of the roast up front, but sweet malt and chocolate join in later. guzzler67 (1285), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Aug 26, 2004 Absolute darkness with a small head and light lacing. Aroma to die for: earthy, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and fine cigar smoke(as opposed to a cheap stogie from the next barstool over). Flavor nearly equals the perfect nose. Bittersweet chocolate, lush dark fruit and coffee blend well and are balanced with a subtle hoppiness that result in a mildly bitter, long lasting, smooth finish. More palatable than the DFH WWS. My favorite from the Mondial se la Biere. GRM (1280), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada
