Pitch black opaque, frothy/creamy cappacino head. Expresso, oak, vanilla, rum, bourbon, and alcohol aroma. Rich expresso, alcohol, rum, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, roasted bitter flavour. Silky smooth, velvety, warming mouthfeel with a touch of alcohol burn. SuperDave70 (1158), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 5, 2008 Sampled at Hellbilly’s Hellraiser II. Deep black pour with a thick creamy tan head that lasts and laces nicely. Beautiful beer! Lots of dark roast coffee in the aroma, along with dark chocolate and roasted malt. Great coffee flavor as well, giving away to sweeter chocolate and vanilla. Creamy on the palate. Very nice stout! Cartoonkhaki (1150), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 10, 2009 It has been so long since I’ve had a good beer. This is amazing! Very dark black brown... I can’t see through it... the head is browish white that goes quick. Aroma is of stewed fruits... like an alcoholic fruit cake and lingering coffee hints with tones of malts maybe some bitter chocolates. Flavour is malty and a little bitter with sweet chocolate coffee malts...
body is huge! Great beer overal!! matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA

Rating # 725
I had not intended to yet rate this beer, I was going to await a re-sampling, but I cannot get this liquid delicacy out of my head. It was an absolutely heavenly chocolate and coffee blending to near perfection. I certainly was not anticipating the joy that I found at first quaff!
The pour was so charred black, vicious and stout… Ahhhhh!!!.. it produced the biggest fattest khaki head of the century. I had my buzz cranking before I ever took my first sip! Robust oily notes of espresso, milk chocolate, raisins, and someone at the table insisted upon the spicy suggestions of tobacco… how right they were! Once this beer hit room temperature it was at its pinnacle! This was a room temp stout / coffee dream! I actually didn’t want to enjoy this beer as much as I did… I just wanted some individuality, but what I found is that the ratings don’t lie! A bad-ass beer is a bad-ass beer no mater how you want to view it! This my friends is one hell of a BAD-ASS BEER!
A more descript ReRate will someday follow! ericandersnavy (1139), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Black with a big rocky light brown head and some good lace. Teh dark roast coffee is all over the aroma, perhpas to the detrimetn of some of the other aromas which reced to the background. Full body, medium carbonation, and a thick, chewy palate. The coffe flavors dominate as the aroma would predict. Bitterness from dark roasted grain, the coffee, and I guess some hops in there somewhere. I love good coffee, but this just seemed a little too one dimensional to me. Still, it is a really good beer, but not great in my opinion. piscator34 (1134), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Bottled sample via (and shared with) oakbluff. Jet black in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas of roasted malts, caramel, vanilla, mild coffee, and earthy hops. Flavors are well balanced between dark roasted coffee, sweet vanilla chocolates, and earthy+grassy hops. Medium bodied for an imperial stout. Not really a blockbuster, but quite solid. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 11, 2008 Pours a very murky oily deep rich black with a small ring tan of head that recedes into a wispy ring of foam bubbles. Big malty nose, yields a very tannic aroma of dark fruits, alcohol, milk chocolate and sweet creamy coffee. What an amazingly heavy and heavenly mouthfeel. Rich and creamy cocoa and coffee. This is so delicious, oily and smooth, with just a hint of vanilla and bourbon like heat. Nicely balanced with a roasty coffee acidity.
