Commercial Description:
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

On draft at brewpub. Deep black with medium but persistent tan head. Loads of roasted and coffee notes from this one. coffee predominates with some malty sweetness and a mild bitter aftertaste. really chewy full palate. A monster of a beer.

Aroma - Wow, smells like fresh coffee grinds, roasted malt, and hint of vanilla. Appearance - black as midnight with a thin tan head which has good retention. Flavor - light sweetness, lightly bitter like dark chocolate, and most of all it taste like black coffee w/ 1/2 of a sugar and a vanilla finish. Palate - medium body, creamy, flat, very long finish. Overall - If you like black coffee, you’ll love this beer. It’s awesome, expensive... but awesome.

Trade bottle from ygtbsm94. Been anxious to open this one for quite some time now. Poured a dark black color with nice head. Aroma and taste of fresh ground coffee, big roasted malts, chocolate and espresso. Medium to full carbonation. As the commercial description states, the brewer blended cofee and a stout seemlessly. Awesome stuff, thanks Brad!

12oz bottle. huge coffee aroma to start. A creamy nutty taste with coffee hanging around the whole time. The carbonation comes through very well and ends with a nice bitterness. The ABV can not be found. I really wish it was lower, so i could enjoy this quality stout all night long. This is a must try. My highest rated beer to date.
