Commercial Description:
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

smells like barbecue, acrid burnt wood, coffee, cigarette butts, but not in a bad way... absolutely opaque brown with a small beige head. woah, intense flavour and feel, body like turkish coffee dregs, taste is burnt malt, coffee grounds, just a powerful taste, interesting tangy hopping and black licorice. awesome

Pours black with a brown/tan frothy slowly dissapating head. Smells somewhat strongly of coffee, chocolate, and hints of caramel. Has a sweet/powerful taste of coffee, coffee and coffee. There is also flavors of coffee beans, hints of chocolate and a little caramel but hard to notice as the coffee really takes charge in the flavor. Very rich, complex, tasty, well balenced, smooth and creamy. I’ve never had a stout quite like this one, as it is very unique. If you love coffee/expresso’s you must try this brew!!!! One of the best brews I’ve had in a long time I must. Wow...

11.5 oz bottle. Pours black with a gorgeous thick full tan head. Aroma is, as they say, all about coffee, of course with a bit more. Very rich and fresh coffee and a nice bitter bitter chocolate cocoa bean character. Just a slight hint of dark fruit and spiciness but background to the coffee and cocoa. Flavor, well it took the coffee to another level. A definite coffee bean and black coffee sort of bitterness rides throughout but never becomes overly bitter someone, stays at the perfect level. Fantastic all around with a medium to full body and not sticky or too heavy with no hint of alcohol.

Great discovery. Aroma of black chocolate and expresso coffey. Black color with nice light brown foam. Flavor of coffee as well with a bit of ashes in the palate. Very nice IS.

Deeeep black colour, thin brown head and a thick lacing on the glass. Aroma is full of coffee, coffee, ashes, tar almost like an ash tray, but in a good way. Flavour is also dominated by coffee, is extremely unbalanced and acidic so much so that it makes it fantasticly interesting and also demanding. Mouthfeel is smooth, just smooth. One word Ashes!

Pours viscous dark brown, black in the glass, with a medium-thin tan head, fine lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, plum, molasses, oak, with a slight earthy edge. Full bodied, smooth, slightly dry. Strong dark-roast coffee flavor, big malt sweetness up front with chocolate, toffee, pine and grass. Medium bitter finish.

Pours the darkest brown color possible with a massive brown head. Aroma is a blend of espresso and dark chocolate. Taste is the same, starting with the bitter coffee flavor, blended with a bit of vanilla, but finishing with a dark, hershey bar flavor.
