I have wanted to try this forever sinec I can remember when it used to be draft only. Pours out a dark black color with a tan head on it. Smell is coffee. More coffee. And then, just a tad more coffee. Some chocolate seems to make its way through as well. Taste is like drinking a rich cup of coffee with 9.5% alcohol in it. This thing had me on the ceiling after I drank the whole bomber of it. I would recommend sharing this with someone, as I didnt go to bed until 4am after drinking this. A fantastic beer though, perhaps not worthy of its 18 dollar price tag, but its still a damn nice beer that I wouldnt mind having a few more bottles of. Boutip (2402), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 10, 2007 Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a huge foamy head with excellent retention and some nice lacing notes. Aroma consists of espresso type coffee with some notes of black chocolate. Taste is a well balance mix between some sweet and roasted malt with a dominant taste of espresso coffee with some notes of black chocolate. Very well balance overall with a full body and a creamy texture. Not cloying or overly dry in any way and alcohol is not apparent. jimhilt (1691), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 13, 2006 Pours a two finger light brown head that fades quickly leaving traces of lace. Black as coal. Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Strong coffee nose. Starts with a strong roasted coffee flavor and stays that way, the 9.0% ABV is totally hidden, easy to drink, you have to like coffee. Pricey - $17.00 for a 660ml bottle from Liquid Solutions Tigard, Or. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Flavor is bitter coffee, strange roasted peach fruit. I swear it was peach, not because of the name of the beer. Great beer overall, but it seemed like too much coffee presence.
Rerate, Batch 2, 11/26/2005. "Coffee is only the beginning". Man, this beer is about the coffee, but there is so much more. It seems perfectly balanced with a fruity caramelly sweetness, creamy sweet vanilla with irish cream hints. Roasty dunkelweizen-like banana. Chocolate vanilla bourbon show up in the nose. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 26, 2003 Updated: Jul 12, 2005Coffee and chocolate nose. Deep dark night color with a finger of very dense head. Grandiose flavours: big malt, coffee and cocolate sweetness with just enough bitterness to offset. Very full, thick creamy mouthfeel. On Tap. (originally rated 6/10 for aroma and 8/10 for flavour. Re-sampled on a less smokey evening at the bar and bumped both up to 9/10). Nov. 2004 First Bottled American Release (7-4-8-3-14=3.6): Strong burnt, bitter coffee ground aroma lacks the sweetness of the original. Opaque black body is covered by a thin but long-lasting cover of tan-brown head. Husky, salty, burnt, bitter flavour reminiscent of coffee grounds. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Bottle enjoyed with Lubiere, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Olivier_MTL, Rastacouere and Yowie. Thanks, ClarkVV! Hangover (771), Atlanta, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 13, 2008 Dark black pour with a huge and delicious looking caramel colored head. Heavy coffee aroma with some chocolate, roasty and slightly burnt notes with some nuttiness. Mouthfeel is creamy, smooth and... smooth. Bitter on the palette, warming booze towards the middle which doesn’t stop until much later. There is a really complex, dark coffee flavor in this one. Somehow it remains balanced with a faint and prickly hoppy finish. This is a great freaking brew. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 25, 2006 Snagged the last bottle at the Map Room for the bargain price of $22. Very rich and full of character. Lots of coffee in the aroma. There is too much noticeable alcohol in the aroma and flavor though. Definitely warms your belly and gets more pronounced as it warms. A high quality imperial stout but didn’t knock my socks off like i’d hoped.
