Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, toffee, with a bit of alcohol. Taste is the same, with a really subtle alcohol burn at the end. It’s a very good beer - though using it to toast the World Series made it 10 times better.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 27, 2009 Bottle at the Dilly Deli. An amazing beer. The pour is opaque with an impressive dark tan head that hung around for quite awhile. Flavors of roasted malts, dark chocolate and dark roasted coffee blend together to created a complex and tasty imperial stout. The alcohol is well hidden by all the roast. Very good. markas101 (595), Fargo, North Dakota, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 25, 2009 Bottle. Poured black with thick creamy beige head. Full aroma of chocolate malt, coffee and roast. Coffee, nutty and malty flavour, very big bodied. Lasting malt and coffee finish. There is enough hop, just enough to keep this from being cloying. pilsnerrogge (1793), Finspång, Sweden

The cask version of this beer is such a different and superior beast than in bottle form. Aroma leaps out of the glass and is pure espresso, I spent more time smelling, than actual drinking. Taste is wonderful roasted coffee with some bitter chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is thick with an oily texture, nice soft natural carbonation adds to the smoothness and drinkability. Nice bitter aftertaste. One of my top beer experiences so far. Padron4KM (405), Chandler, Arizona, USA
