Almost medium body with a tingle. Taste is caramel, plum and wood with bitter grass and alcohol. A bit rough on the edges. Could use more time in the cellar. Fred82 (399), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 26, 2009 341ml bottle quite fresh. Pours brown with close to no head. Great lacing. Aroma is spicy, dark fruits, some caramel as well. Alcohol is quite present. Strong warming effect even if the beer just got out of the fridge. Taste is dark fruits, spices. Very abt like. You can really taste the alcohol (in a Rochefort 10 kind of way). Taste as some complexity. Some hints of cherries. Very rich, warm and comforting brew. dnstone (209), Mons, Belgium

Pours ruby brown with a decent foamy beige head. Quad aroma - with a touch of tobacco. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Touch of heat. Quad flavors. Finishes with a balance of malt and bitter - not a lot of bitter - but a great tasting brew. j12601 (1305), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Bottle shared by gregc from BA at Captain Lawrence during the release of the newest vintage of the St. Vincent’s Dubbel. Was looking for this when I was in Montreal at the beginning of April but I was unsuccessful in tracking it down, so I was glad to get to try this. Pours a hazy brown with a thin white head. Pine, plum, candy, and caramel on the nose. Medium bodied, sticky and sweet with a nice caramel flavor coming through. Finishes fruity with some light banana notes. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Bottle from the Grant, the Georgia Maniac. Thanks, man! Pours a beautiful, almost perfect onyx with a contrasting head of slightly off-white. Aroma is subtle raisin yeast just waiting to be baked. Hints of cinammon, plumb, and raddish. Flavor is spiced raisin bread with just a hint of yeasty dough in the core. Earthy elements unveil themselves as the beer warms. Nice, full mouthfeel that leaves no taste bud untouched. GREAT beer; worth the wait, and worth another purchase in the fututure. smashed420 (22), Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 19, 2009 341ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with nice, slowly disappearing head. Aroma is dominated by roasted grains with some toffee undertones. Taste is also very roasted barley, similar to an imperial stout. Body is medium, surprising for the strength of the beer. Warming alcohol in the finish, but not overwhelming. The roasted character seems totally out of place and lacks subtelty, but still it is a very pleasant beer.
