EtownEraser (63), New Jersey, USA Aug 30, 2007 Updated: Sep 1, 2007 On Tap, 30-Aug-2007 only offered in 12 ounce tulip cups. This beer was not offered when I was there on Monday. Eat your heart out Dorwart.......wish you were here to enjoy this! Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Smells of banana, bread, spice and wood. Taste is sweet and complex. A wonderful mix of fruit. Some prunes and rasins come through. Great mouth feel. The 10% ethanol is well hidden in this gem. This is a complimentde by a generous dose of hops. Possibly the best beer I’ve ever had. Rather than trying another of Dieu Du Ciel!’s fine selection I came back to this beauty.
BrianK (74), New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2008 What a killer Quad. I don’t remember much about how it tasted, but i can say that I definately want to taste it again. Rciesla (910), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Sep 26, 2008 Draft at DDC. Dark brown body in the 10 anniversary glass that somehow made it home. Raisin, fig, lots of etoh, burnt sugar spices and a sweet finish. Big fan of this one. puzzl (1823), New York, New York, USA Sep 21, 2008 2006 at the DDC 10th Anniversary Party. Mint, tobacco, menthol aroma. Sweaty with caramel. Full bodied, candi sugar, with a lot of legit quad character. Slightly thin, but closer to a quad in style than any North American example I’ve had. Full, rich malt-sweet flavor. Well aged. Nice. Thanks for sharing this one, Dany. kmweaver (2125), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Sep 13, 2008 Draft @ DDC. Labeled as 10.5%. Pours a clear, dark ruby / burgundy color; bright off-white head with solid retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Solid amounts of dried dark fruits, raisins, dates, and grape notes in the aroma; slightly vinous and overripe with plenty of dried fruits; some cola. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: somewhat viscous, oily presence: dried dark fruits (raisins and dates, esp.), plums, and touches of cinnamon and spice; generous, dense quad, though it feels a touch tight and reserved in the middle sections; not mouth-filling, so to speak; but solid. Seems like an average to slightly-above-average quad; dense, but reserved. Medium finish: raisins, dates, and some oily nuttiness; sweet honey notes. Sammy (3141), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 21, 2007 At the brewpub, a cross between a Belgium and an old ale. Very cloudy amber with great lacing, yeasty aroma, Full mouthfeel. Very drinkable and tasty. The clear winner here tonight, and it has been around for a fair bit. Some cholate malt. Well crafted.
