| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Pros: Really nice look. Nice layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle. Fully formed head lasts well. Flavor is terrifically extracted, loaded with flavor. Rich all around, it even finishes well. Notes of chocolate, pit fruit and raisin. Excellent mouth feel. Well hidden alcohol.
Cons: Aroma is muted, but this could be due to the lack of bottle age.
A beautiful bottling of ale, no doubt about it. One I plan on aging extendedly. This is one of the best examples of the style to come out of North America.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2009 This is a surprisingly sweet beer. Lots of dried fruit, dates, especially. Banana chips. The alcohol is very well hidden, but the sweetness would probably keep you from drinking too much of this beer. chicagodri (1057), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Pours brown, glad to see a new Dieu du Ciel brew in Chicago. Very sweet and boozy, quite potent. Aroma of caramel and Belgian yeast. Good flavor, enjoyable, but the 10.5% wasn’t as hidden as I would have liked. JoshuaB (427), Detroit, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 3, 2009 My local store just got these in. Not a big fan of the style, but not bad. These all seem way to syrupy for my except the Bernardus version. andersand (359), Malmö, Sweden
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Rather light brown with a tight off-white head. Aroma is fat malty with mainly caramell but has a nice layer of fruity esters on top, rather "bright" and inviting, multi-dimensional and fun. Flavour is less exiting with a too slimey malt profile, too much caramell for the style and the esters doesnt make it a easy enough drink. Quite good but should almost be considered a "belgian barleywine" rather than a quad/abt. Body is medium to full and quite sticky. Marsiblursi (1644), Göteborg, Sweden
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 2, 2009 (Bottle) Pours reddish brown with a small nougat coloured head. The aroma holds caramel, marzipan, grainy bread, chocolate and honey alongside pear, plum, tart apricot, and woody pineapple up front. Some overripe, fermented tones of orange, grapefruit, pomegranate, watermelon, grapes and vegetable. Vanilla powder, mild white pepper and spicy hops. Bit floral as well. Some alcohol warmth in the nose. The flavour is near medium sweet, light bitter and light acidic. The best thing is the malt profile - fat, caramelly and chocolaty with undertones of marzipan and honey. Spicy, fruity and warming. The mouthfeel is round, smooth and light sticky with a soft carbonation. Warming, round and malty aftertaste. Near full-bodied. Not perfect, but the malt profile and the fat body makes this beer a real treat. ekstedt (2437), Göteborg, Sweden
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2009 Bottle (34 cl) from Systembolaget. Deep shady mahogny with small off-white head. Fruity and nutty aroma with spices, dark berries, some wood, and herbal hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Fairly dry, low to medium bitterness. Well done, but not overwhelming. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 2, 2009 Ruby colour, dirty beige head and some lacing. Head is very creamy looks nice!
Aroma is full of dark fruit, plums raisins, honey, sugar alcohol and yeast.
Flavour is the same as the aroma and very well balanced, it can compete with the Belgian originals.
Mouthfeel is smooth and a bit sticky.
The God in heaven brewery once again has produced a very fine brew! cbeers21 (573), Miami, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Nice pour with a musky chocolate covered berry aroma billowing up immediately as it hit the glass. Hazy pour with a light foamy head leaving a lasting ring and lacing. Complex aromas and flavors which begin with a juicy almost fruited sugary mustiness but graduates into a more puckering green apple sourness at the end, although very faint. A huge range of flavor to pay attention to...maybe I didn’t have my "A" game because many of flavors were not recorded but most certianly were there. A worthy brew and one to sip and meditate upon
