This cola brown beauty shows absolutely no evidence of its 10.5 percent abv. The nose is rather weak with brown sugar and chocolate. Slight banana and dark fruit with a hint of chocolate. This is an extremely well made beer with little complexity.

Dec 27, 2009 You would like this. It is better than most beers you have had. Not too sweet, yet no bitterness. A good belgian yeast, but has a Dubbel taste to it. Very malty and smooth. Little carbonation, and lacks any off flavors. You get what you expect out of this. When you are sitting on the change piece you don’t need to worry about the heater blowing by you.

Dec 26, 2009 355 ml bottle. Rich malty aroma with a hint of red berris, vanilla and black pepper. Sweet sugary malts. High carbonation level. Fizzy and sugary, but with notes of ginger snaps and black pepper. Sweet malty flavours mixed with caramel and dry and herbal flavours, especially spicy dried black pepper. Nicely balanced, but focused towards the herbal angle.

Dec 25, 2009 11.5oz bottle. Deep brown-amber color. Head fades out after a minute or into a thin, oily, thin coating. Raisin, plum, fig, and other dark fruit in the aroma, with a touch of orange liqueur. Big and full of flavor, reminiscent of Rochefort 10. Certainly malt centered, with just a touch of initial bitterness. Deep, fruity, yeasty brown sugar finish. This is a world-class beer, with lots of fruit and caramel tones. One of the best Quads out there.

Dec 22, 2009 Bottle: Muddy caramel, moderate off-white spritzy head, not much lacing. Bready, dark pitted fruit nose, and noticeable Anise. Sticky sweet on the tongue, very very bready but not as heavy as I would have thought.
&nbwp Warming, with dark pitted fruit emerging on the backside. A little candyish, in that Belgian Dubbel sense. I would say this has as much in common with a Dubbel as it does a Quad. Not all that heavy, body and
mouthfeel are fairly moderate. Very sweet on the finish. Has a syrupy finish. Tiz okay, but the sweetness is perhaps a little heavy.

Dec 21, 2009 It’s hazy red mahogany with a creamy head. The aroma is vinous with notes of spicem yeast, malt, caramel and fruit. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, fruit, alcohol, hints of licorice and it develops into a rather vinous beer. The finish is dry. I think it would be even better if it had matured some years in the cellar, the alcohol is a bit too strong.

Dec 18, 2009 tasted in trappiste glass. pours a murky, brown colour with a quickly dissipating off white head. aroma is of grapes, dried fruits, lots of yeast. flavour is full, very spicy with notes of toffee. goes down smooth, with a slight alcohol burn on the finish, expected at 10.5% abv. this beer is extremely complex, lots going on in here.

Dec 18, 2009 Pours to a deep brown murky body with a creamy but mostly dissipating white head. The aroma is very much an abbey ale. Treacle and tobacco with earthy yeasts. Bananas foster. The flavor is earthy and yeasty with bananas and baked plantains. The palate is a bit over carbonated. Medium-full bodied and nice deep texture really brings it together.
