Mar 10, 2009 Courtesy beernbourbon. Dark amber. Off white head. Rich, malty, and boozy with notes of burnt caramel and toffee, good-n-plenty, cocoa, herbals, and a touch of drying bitterness on the end. Alcohol aids in drying the end to keep it from being too sweet. Full/medium body, smooth. Nice after dinner drink, dig the good-n-plenty and herbal hop combo.

Mar 5, 2009 Nose of toffee, caramel, burnt sugars, bread, floral, woody, and earthy hops. Great dark red color with a beige thin head. Flavors of caramel, toffee, burnt sugars, dark bread, and a really nice aged hop presence that includes wood, perfume, pine trees. Really nice muted aged hop bitterness. Insanely drinkable. Awesome.

Mar 3, 2009 Aroma is soft and sweet. Pours dark red with no head. Mouth feel is soft and silky with moderate carbonation. Taste is not as assertive as most barley wines. This one is nicely balanced. Flavors of nuts, caramel, peat, smoke, medicine. This is very good - more subtle than expected. Alcohol is absolutely nonexistant. Very enjoyable.

Light light unclear medium amber color with a average, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, berry sweet, moderate hoppy, orange, spicy. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, and nice balancede. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20081122]

Mar 1, 2009 Bottle. Cloudy orange-brown; perhaps a yeasty pour. Thin partial head. Light aroma with hints of alcohol and spice. Nice warm drinkable warming beer. More like a spiced Winter Warmer with a good dose of hops. Hides the alcohol very well.

Mar 1, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Average of the excellent barley wines. Compliment big time. Little thin bodied, but great flavor. Tastes excellent. Some hops, sweetness, dark fruits, awesomeness. Dig it big time. Very impressed.

Feb 27, 2009 Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil. Deep brown beer with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly oxidized and sweet with a fairly simple maltiness. A kiss of black pepper and light sweet caramel. Lightly floral on the back, but it’s really quite non-descript.

Feb 27, 2009 Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil:Amber/rusty copper pour with an off-white film of head. Sweet rich aroma of raisin, fig, dark caramel and some spicy fruit skin notes. The flavor starts with a sweet rich dark fruit note, along with dense caramel malt sweetness, which is followed by a huge hop bitterness, which is peppery, herbal and nearly astringent (reminiscent of bitter fruit skin). Time should mellow out the bittering hops- solid profile overall.
