walter (357), Staunton, Virginia, USA Jul 22, 2007 Draft at the brewery. Black with tan head. Great nose of toasty, roasted malts, harsh coffee, and faint creamy sweetness. Flavor delivers on all of these, very well balanced. Quite enjoyable, though it didn’t seem like nitrogen was involved at all. acrdz (4248), Pennsylvania, USA Aug 16, 2004 Deep black with a brown head. Rich coffee and sharp and sweet chocolate with some licorice intertwined. Weird, almost. Like overly sweet chocolate syrup. The nose is full of roasted malts and some cream. Decent stuff, bitter, a little astringent. barleyPops (1058), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Jun 19, 2006 on tap at the Dillon Dam Brewpub, Dillon, CO
enjoyed this on a gorgeous summer day, a couple of hours before my nephews wedding. great looking dry stout with a roasted, yet sweet, malt aroma. very similiar in taste to the Blue Cat Finnigans Irish Stout, but doesn’t quite have as much body. a nice roasted malt flavor up front, but is more sweet than dry on the finish. this would make an easy session brew for me. Black with a fruity aroma. Some bitterness and roast in the finish. harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jul 22, 2006 Rich for a dry stout. A nice black pour, with a thick bit of layering on the palate. This has a great bitterness to it, once all the flavors have showed themselves, it tends to linger their reminding you of what you just tasted. An ample bit of fruitiness is present, along side the chocolate/caramel flavor. Tasty.
