From Bottle

Poured deep copper. Thick frothy white head. Aroma malty and ever so slightly of fruit as it warmed. I was worried from the aroma that I wasn’t going to enjoy this. Taste was of sweet candyish tones, caramel, and malts. Mouthfeel is light, and carbonation is ok. I actually picked this up by accident looking for a dunkel. It’s classified as a dunkel here, but has malt liquor printed on the bottle in small print. I just recently gotten into the dunkel syle, compared to the last one I had, this isn’t the best. It actually had more of the dunkel characteristics as it warmed. It is enjoyable warm, i would probably get it again just as one of those just in case beers.

Pours a deep dark brown. Aromas of roasted malts, smoke, and hints of fruit. Flavors of the roasted malts, some fruit, with a coffee aftertaste.

Deep caramel in color with a creamy off-white head, this has a solid molasses and caramel aroma. The flavor is lightly roasted malt, caramel, a touch of ripe apple, and a nutty bitterness. Pretty decent dunkel.

The aroma was a little funky, so I assumed it was mild skunkiness from the green glassed bottle. Brown, yet clear in color. The taste was actually pretty good with some malty yet it had a sort of mild hoppy lingering aftertaste.

Not much to the aroma, maybe yeast? Thin pour with a fast white fizzy head. In the glass, its deep brown but not dark enough to prevent you from seeing through the glass. The flavor is malty with hints of carmel and bitter finish. Not bad, try one.

Bottle. Light molasses malt and vinegar aroma. Light clear brown color with small head. Strong dark malt flavor - slightly burnt flavor - strong acidity and moderate carbonation - tastes much stronger than the aroma and appearance would lead you to believe. A perkier dunkel - much more sharp tasting than is typical for the style.

Draft at Sippin by the River ’05. Rich, fresh, clean, dunkles. Enjoyable and a good alternative to the many fest beers out there these days.

Pretty good stuff. I like this one so much better than the regular Dinkel Acker. The aroma has lots of caramel and malt but has some hops to balance. The appearance is a red-brown with a medium head that fades pretty quick. The flavor is sweet toasted malt and some nuttiness. The sweetness is well balanced with the bitterness in this one. The palate is think but the alcohol is bold enough to keep it from being too weak. The aftertaste is toffee like. Good.
