| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 3, 2003 Pours a dark brown with a nice fluffy tan head. The nose is malty and sweet. The body seemed thin to me but also has more malt and definite chocolate notes. Seemed like a weaker or thinner version of Spaten Optimator. Not a bad beer, just not outstanding. krisbierjaeger (844), dolores, Colorado, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 2, 2003 brown as the old leather hush puppies you wore at camp pokey-tonka, but, um, you know, entirely transparent . typical lager head swells big like forest mushrooms after a spring rain, but just as quickly is gone (lots faster than that poison ivy). aroma isn't quite all you've ever dreamed of: thin chocolate malts and damp cardboard, with a bit of nestea. flavor "follows through" --as the professional raters say-- with thin bodied hershey's candy wrapper and liquified bread characteristics: think of a s'mores made with unsweetened graham cracker, but someone-- like betsy festerwinkles--has scrapped nearly ALL the chocolate and marshmallow off of it before offering it to you. gee, thanks. she obviously hates you. camp sucks. a case of dickel-acker dark would have helped alot: soothed some conflicts, parlayed some temporal inebriated alliances; it would be years before you realized that it, too, basically sucks. c'est la vie. guzzler67 (1288), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 1, 2003 Medium brown appearance. Average head; quickly diluted. Sweet, chocolate malt aroma. Thin, malted barley taste. Lots of carbonation. Cloying aftertaste. Would pass on buying it again. PorterPounder (3148), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 20, 2003 Good formidable Dunkel. Nice deep, dark brown pour with a thick mocha head that diminshes quite quickly with just a tad of lacing. Detect a hint of raisins in aroma breaking through the mainly malty aroma. The most prominent flavor is similar to baked brown bread - the canned moist, variety with a little bit of raisins thrown in for good measure. All in all, an enjoyable diversion. Finishes strong - no aftertaste. joemacaluso (119), Prairieville, Louisiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 16, 2003 Easy drinking dunkel, sweeter than could be expected. Hops are not too apparent, seems a little sweet for the style, but much easier to drink than the CD Pils. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 13, 2003 Pours with a mohagony body topped by a thick off white head with a good amount of lace. Slightly sweet flowery malt aroma. Slightly sweet malty flavor witha slightly hoppy bitterness. The finish is sweet and slightly bitter. Medium bodied and relatively smooth. clvand0 (350), Lexington, Kentucky, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 13, 2003 This beer pours a light brown with a small head. It has a slightly malty taste and it is very light tasting for a dark beer. I would recommend trying this one.
