Aromas of wood, wet grain and weak honey. LIght sugary sweetness throughout the taste. Generic slightly acidic bitterness comes in the finish and linger. No real malt flavors found. Bland to the point it is easy to find fault. DuffMan (2774), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada

But I know this, Dixie Beer was part of the fabric of New Olreans decades ago. There was an attempt to brew it about a year ago, that failed miserably. Now, according to the bottle, Joseph Huber is brewing it now. Joseph Huber, whoever you are, you have captured the essence of Dixie, which holds the charm, expression, and character of New Orleans. Rumor always had it that Dixie was brewed with N.O. tap water, and that was the secret. To all, please taste and tell me if you have ever tasted a more unique beer. Jos. Huber, congrats! I thought the taste was watery and metallic. If I wanted to get hammered, I’d go with the EtOH i.v. drip rather than drink this. Wulfstan (509), California, USA

It’s gold with a medium-to-thin, white, dissipating head. The aroma is similar to other examples of the style, but stronger than the norm, and very pleasant, being fruity, wheaty, and with an unusual woody element. The taste is again mostly like a standard American example, but stronger and more complex and satisfying. It has a strong toasted grain element, a crisp, slightly fizzy apple-cider quality, especially right before the finish, and a pleasant, grain finish and long, woody grain aftertaste with light green-grass bitterness. It has an engaging, and full mouth feel. reakt (937), Greater London, England

Pale gold with a short lived thin white head. Nose of barley, malt, wheat, corn and hops, some buttery notes. Again malt and grains in the taste with some caramel also. Was ok straight out of the fridge but got worse as it warmed, I definately wouldn’t want this in a field out of the back of a truck*. Thin and over carbed. Not as bad as anticipated but not great either, reminds me of the cheap beers my dad used to drink back when I was a kid growing up in Houston. Would be more suited to a can as the bottle seems a tad upscale for it’s contents.

Rucker, Al at the Flight School in the 90’s, this stuff was one of my favorite brews at the bar ’The Zone’ in Enterprise, Al. We dance the night away with the local girls and swilled this down by the gallon. I loved the flavor, aroma and the patate was a real salvation for me at least, I loved Oly in the North West and this was the only thing close.

Aroma was Whisky/Bourbon and oak. Tasted Whiskyish or was that the oakyness again? Not my thing, too sweet, no biterness, some sweet malts, not good at all.
