I was in town to hear my friend play the piano, and I was surprised to find a couple of pretty good bars in the "historical district." The Blue Bayou actually had a pretty good selection of bottles, and about four taps. I decided to try some of the more interesting looking beers. I’d heard of Dixie, but never tasted it. It wasn’t really anything special. I ended up splitting it with a friend, and moved on to an IPA. This stuff still beats out just about every macro pale lager I’ve had though. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Dec 27, 2005 This draft brew poured a medium sized head of semi-frothy fine to medium sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained average carbonation, was hazy and light orange brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of malty doughy . Its mouth feel is initially tingly with a palate and a malty aftertaste. Its flavor contained malty doughy notes. A good smooth drinkable average brew. Magicdave6 (5548), London, Greater London, England

Aroma is sweet corny malt, though theres some hops trying to fight back. Taste is similar, i have to say i was drink, ing this bottle just below room temp so that might have had something to do with it. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Oct 1, 2005 Typical lager. Mixure of malts and hops with a bitter flavor on the palate. Beer served at pizza joint’s I would imagine. Thanks Degarth Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 12, 2005 Pours a plain yellow color with a thin white head. Rather plain beer aroma, you can smell some grain but no hops. Typical pale lager flavor with little hops, some malt, and a watery finish. Plain and simple. RAYBOY01 (1851), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Sep 7, 2005 My rating for this New Orleans lager is based on the memory of drinking hundreds of these in NOLA over the years and hundreds more at the OLD Maple Tree Inn on Western Ave down in the dingy bar we called the "cave". Those good old days are long gone, maybe for good now. I hope not, though.
