Ruby-colored body with a clinging white head. Light, sweet aroma with caramel and sugar notes. Fair amount of carbonation on the palate. Nice flavor that is mostly sweet caramel and burnt sugar. There is some dark fruit and a touch of sourness at the end. Fairly clean finish. A good beer that I haven’t had is over ten years until tonight.

A rich dark caramel colored pour with a small 1 inch head. Not black. Caramel and molasses flavor with mineral water flavor on the finish. Palate is tame and malty on the low side of carbonation.

Bottle at Lafittes Blacksmith Shop in the French Quarter. Strong smell of sugar and raising. Pretty light flavored with mostly malts. Not very sweet.

I love this beer. I used to go to Mardi Gras in New Orleans every year and this was my staple beer. Aroma was nice. All caramel malt. Pour was a nice deep ruby with a one finger off white head and plenty of small bubbles. Taste was plain and simple all caramel malt. Nice prickly carbonation makes it easy to drink and crisp. It is a little thin in the mouthfeel, though. Brings me back to my the Quarter!

I will have to re-rate this, since my tasting is off due to sinus problems, but it does have beautiful ruby/black color. Tastes sort of malty and sweeter than I remember it tasting (probably due to the sinus poblem, since they all are tasting sweet) Cannot tell any aftertaste right now, so I will update it later.
