Taste of caramel, light graininess, crackers. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Easy drinking amber lager, don’t know that I’d call this a schwarz cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 3, 2008 This was brewed for Dixie Brewing by Joseph Huber Brewing Co. A subtle burnt aroma with strong notes of black strap molasses. Amber-brown pour with a thin, fizzy, light tan head and minimal streaks of lacing. Medium bodied and well carbonated. There’s an empty finish with a metallic aftertaste. Flavors of mild coffee and nuts. Sweet and burnt earthy malt. Rather weak and thin, I wonder if the recipe has suffered due to being contract brewed. fattibobatti (246), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Its nice to see Dixie Brewing continues to have it brewed. However this amber bodied Scwarzbier is just an average macro dark lager. Sampled @ World Cafe Live beer fest so I expect to see it back on shelves in the Philadelphia area. Collint (465), Sylva, North Carolina, USA

I recently drank the "Beers of America" sample pack and all of them tasted a bit watered down. This beer is caramel and honey with almost no hop flavor. Nothing impressive. drfabulous (1276), Columbia, Missouri, USA

What I remember was swamping, black, undrinkable sludge. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA

Flavor is caramel, toffee, burnt malt, and bread. Finishes slightly bitter, a little over carbonated. bhensonb (4384), Woodland, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Feb 9, 2008 Aroma of grassy hop with some toasted malt. Dark reddish amber color with a very impressive beige head. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is smooth, a bit of roasted malt (not toasted), with a decent amount of hop bitter. I can imagine a touch of chocolate. Finish is fairly dry and somewhat bittered. It’s not black. It doesn’t seem to be a schwarzbier in flavor. It’s pleasant, but isn’t it an amber lager?
