While I felt that it was more of a simply dark lager than a schwarzbier, I’ll just go with the flow. Aroma was toffeeish, sour malt, with an underlying roast character. Appearance was cola in color, with nearly naught a head to see. Mouthfeel was light, clean. Flavor was more toffee, subtle hops and not really much else. I’ll give this another go when I can obtain a fresher beer. littlefelix (29), Santa Clarita, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 23, 2007 This WAS a wonderful beer. I’m afraid that some of these recent posts are misleading. They haven’t been made since before Hurricane Katrina. So if people are buying them now, they would be fairly old. Which can be good or bad, depending on the conditioning on location. The newly bottle BV’s will be brewed by a contracted source, so once they hit the shelves soon I’ll be interested to see the difference, if any. bleeng (600), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 7, 2007 Not brewed by Dixie-at least until they get the plant back to 100%. Not the worst lager one could have. At least it has some decent malt overtones and the bottle and carrier have some cool graphics. jonwayne4883 (401), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

It’s overkill in some department but I don’t know what. My favorite dark lager of all time. Clean finish, unbelievably smooth and tasty on palate. Malt, hops. chocolate, and a higher liquor content than it says ("5%)." If you love your lager, buy this as a present to yourself because it ain’t cheap. Smells like lager that somebody paid attention to. motelpogo (4399), Plzen, Czech Republic
