There wasn’t much taste but, the aroma tricked you into thinking it might be better than it was. Saarlander (1583), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA

Not great, but ok. Not much hops at all. Firemoose15 (542), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA

Bottle. Aroma very light a hint of sweet malts. Pour was nice, dark brown with a thin off white head. Flavor is nice and smooth, a little hint of coffee and raisin. Palate was nice also had a nice mouthfeel to it and finish was just roasty enough. Overall I liked it, a true good drinker for any ole time. Thanks again Joe. thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2005 Pour is a very deep, dark red with a small white head. Aroma is hard to find but some malts make an appearence. Flavor is coffee malts with a touch of hops. Kinda watery in the end and the over pricing brings the rate down. Its an average schwarzbier. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 26, 2005 Clear dark brownish-black with ruby swirls when held to the light. A small dirty white head left a fleeting impression of mild lacing. Not much of an aroma save for some roasted malt and a hint of smoke. Flavors reminded me somewhat of a weak brown ale with suggestions of coffee and roasted malt. Some hops snuck in from time to time but didn’t hang around long enough to provide much stability or balance. Finish was medium-short and a little sweet and mouthfeel was "lagerry" (i.e. industrial macro watery). Not sure what to make of this beer. It tries to find some unique presence but fails to achieve any unique flavors or qualities. walleye (882), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA

I hope to see the Dixie Brewery back in operation soon. Dark brown with a short lived tan head. Nice aroma of sweet malts. Flavor is also sweet malt, like a watery dunkel. A nice mild flavor that I like. A little thin, but highly drinkable and enjoyable. A little roasty and just a bit of bitterness. A well-balanced lightweight. Very nice. The rich, black color always makes me anticipate a robust malty body and I look for the balancing hops and smooth finish. I looked in vain, my anticipation turned to disappointment. The aftertaste went the way of the head, gone before it passed the tonsils.
