| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | May 10, 2005 Chestnut color with a smaller tan head. Wow, I’m getting the same stuff in the nose as omhper. Don’t thing this was in boiling hot container, but it may not be the freshest sample. There do seem to be some undertones of malt, but it is to brutal to continue. Simple sugar sweetness with a touch of dark caramel. Very simple brew. Quite watery in feel. There are some darker malt flavors in the finish. Add some kitchen bouquet to a standard lager, and I think you have this. I’ll rerate when I get a if merited from the next sample. JohnC (2286), Mission Viejo, California, USA

Burnt malt and brown sugar aroma. Taste is burnt brown sugar and chocolate mixed with a nutty flavor. Very watery and thin. Maybe I just don’t like schwarzbiers, but this wasn’t good. Some roast malt and chocoff in the aroma, along with some cabernet. The taste is as it smells, with some brown sugar, chocolate, and nuts. Weak palate, but not bad in the complexity department. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 22, 2005 Updated: Jun 24, 2006Years ago this was a regular beer for me. I have not had one for about 6 years now and decided to try one again now that my beer palate has expanded. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with red highlights and only a trace of a tan head. The aroma is faint roasted malt. The flavor is powerful with roasted malt and has moderate chocolate and brown sugar elements. I had forgotten how much I like this one, but it is no longer a favorite.
