Nothing amazing. I did, however, enjoy the slightly smokey sensation early on in the bottle, but this too diminished throughout... muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 22, 2005 12 oz bottle. Cola-caramel-bubbly-translucent in the pour, with a medium diminishing tan head...sweet, sticky caramel-root beer nose, very simple and a bit cloying...light smokiness initially on the tongue, with herbal-sasparilla flavors, sweet at the front and quite dry late, little body and a very uninvolving, forgettable finish. donrajin (233), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, USA

Once I sampled the beer I found it to be a decent beer, but not exceptional. It had a decent maltiness for a lager, but then again i’m more of an ale man. I ordered it again while in New Orleans and found for me it did not go well with really hot food. I will try again if the opportunity arrises, just not while eating blackeded catfish. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 12/20 | Feb 14, 2005 Poured a dark ruby color with a small off white head. Malty flavor with a bit of fruitiness. Malty and roasty flavor with a "wet dog" aftertaste. Watery mouthfeel.. My First swarzbier.. Not a bad brew. Pailhead (2593), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Bottle: Very sweet aroma with a lot of brown sugar, some caramel, and chocolate. Pours a very dark brown with no tranparenct. Not much head, just a tan film that’s created and then fades to the edges of the glass. Not as malty and sweet as the aroma would lead you to believe. Very light up front with a lightly sour, dark chocolate, and caramel finish. A little nuttiness in the finish. civforprez (225), Galesburg, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Poured dark brown with a nice full white head. A little on the thin side, but nice aroma of malts and a little licorice in the taste. Decent, not exceptional. BennyTicklez (621), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 2, 2005 Pours dark brown/ ruby with an average cream colored head. Fruity, plum-like aroma. Taste is malty and also plum-like. Long lasting, sweet aftertaste. This is my first schwarzbier, but the style seems to be enjoyable. goozen (1088), Leiden, Netherlands
