| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Sep 25, 2004 bottle. why is this one a twist off and the bottle of dixie i had wasn’t? pours black with a thin dark tinted grey head. dry slight stale brown sugar aroma. brown sugar flavor and the same sour honey as i experienced with the Dixie. very raw tasting and leaves a hay bitterness that reminds me of when i was younger and brothers would force me to eat hay from my grandparents barn, damn the flashbacks this beer brings. it’s never a good thing when a beer reminds you of a traumatic experience. | 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Sep 13, 2004 I didn’t like this beer. Poured a dark amber color and had a sweet aroma, as well as the taste, but was very flat. Almost like flavored water. bierchik (95), lakewood, California, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 10, 2004 I got hooked on this stuff during my first trip to New Orleans many years ago. It’s got a dark brown, nearly black body with a brown head. There’s more of a malty sweetness to the aroma than there is to the taste, whic gices a rich, malty/chocolatey mouth-feel with a slight bitter finish. I always keep some in my ’fridge.
