Black/crimson. Thin tan head. Smells like malt. The flavor is quite tangy, a little tinny, creamy, & slightly bitter. Not too much flavor here. Dry. Not bad to drink but not great either. Different.

Black in colour and a bit thin looking. Aromas are acidic with roast malts and some sweetness. Flavours have some roast character but this is lacking any malt depth. Pretty thin. Have a Herold Black instead.

The actual contents trails the hip name, interesting label and its Deutsche counterparts. Not bad at all though. Darker brown not black, slightly caramel roasted taste and just a bit thin in feel. Down one to celebrate the ragin’ cajun in y’awl.

Brown/black in color. decent tan head that faded fairly quickly. Was served too cold, but was good anyway. I was hoping for a thicker palate.

Poured a dark brown that looked like cyprus water from the bayou. Thin biege head that didn’t last. Wood, caramel, dark malts, and spice on the nose. Roasted flavor with darl chocolate, wood, and spice on the tongue. Mild dry finish. Not a bad beer. A pretty good beer for the style.

Dark brown, slightly transparent. Aroma of molasses, caramel, and spices (cloves). Flavor is sweet, spicy, and malty, with some roastiness coming through in the finish. Lighter bodied than I would have expected, but overall, a good brew.
