Dark, dark reddish brown with reasonable head, but it dies soon.
Roast malt flavor with a bit of chocolate as expected, but blah.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 10, 2004 Nice and smooth with definite malt aroma and favor. Easy to drink. Pours with little head and has a very dark rich looking color that doesn't match the thin flavor and body. Still, very drinkable. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2004 Starts off nice with a malty aroma, not much hops over a tan head. not too much body to keep it from being refreshing. I think of this more as a Munich Dunkel than a Scwarzbier however. Decent brew. haddon90 (1036), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 24, 2003 Deep dark brown pour with a slim tan head. Malty aroma, with a hint of coffee in the background. Little hops, hint of salt, roasted malt possibly? Not bad, actually pretty decent! Interesting beer! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 11, 2003 Aroma is lightly hoppy with a sweet shart malt profile. Tastes very rich and a little salty. Had this at the Litte 5 Points in Atlanta with a nice dish with olives, roasted garlic and pesto/feta sauce. It was a match made in heaven! The beers hops cut through the spicyness of the garlic and the sweet malt balanced the salty olives. Terrific stuff it was. bbrock81 (221), Le Mars, Iowa, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2003 Dark brown (slight red tint) color, can't tell the aroma (my nose is stuffed up), slightly roasted flavor, relatively mild. Perhaps a bit watery. Not bad, not too great. The only other schwarzbier I've had is Koestritzer, and it was much better.
