| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 8, 2009 Very dark amber body with a tall off-white head. Thin body. Not really much of a schwarz, doesn’t really have the malt depth or smooth body of the really nice schwarzbiers. Soft note of caramel and milk chocolate, soft almost oxidized earthiness comes through, finishing balanced with the hops. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Bottle. Clear brown with a fading tan head. Caramel and lightly piny aroma. Just a little buttery.Light body and medium carbonation. A bit of chocolate in the taste but just a bit. Otherwise the taste is the same as the aroma. Dry pine finish. I’ve had some really great Schwarzbiers. This doesn’t seem to be one of them. Cavie (1412), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 6, 2009 Pretty amber pour. Aroma is fresh with a hint of darker spices. Amazing smell though. Taste is slightly sour with a finish of bitter, buttery malt. Best used as an air freshener. sebletitje (1914), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours amber with off-white head.
Aroma of pale malts, dark malts with buttery/ caramel notes, not bad, just plenty of malts.
Taste, dark roasted malts with hoppy bitterness.
Good thing they added the dakr malts otherwise this beer would have been quite terrible. fidelis83 (720), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 5, 2009 Pours dark but clear copper with a 1 finger chunky light tan head. Aroma is roast, wood, sour malt, some toast, lemon, some burnt sugar, a hint of char and grass. Flavor is toast, roast, a little caramel, slightly metallic, lemon, earthy notes and some toasted wood. Finish is planty citric and slightly bitter. Palate is thin, sticky and over carbonated. This beer really doesn’t come together well at all. Feinschmecker (188), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 5, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown/chestnut color with a malty sour aroma. Not highly carbonated. Very thin one dimensional malt characteristic over the palate. There some fruit like characteristics also. Reminds me of a European beer somehow, maybe French like Brown beer. Quaffable, but could be a lot better.
