| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 17, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a clear, ruby-mahogany colored body with a thin, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is malty sweet with some caramels, honey, and brown sugar. A light butter and hint of spiced fruit. Flavor is a light malt sweetness with more of that honey from the aroma. Nutty with a light caramel and a bit of a leathery cocoa. Finishes with some fruit, a bit metallic, and a hint of roast with a very light bitterness. Fairly dry with a short aftertaste after a light, smooth, clean body. Overall, "blackened" it isn’t. Sweet, nutty, and lightly fruity with a hint of roast. Not bad, but unremarkable. drjay44 (804), Salida, Colorado, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 3, 2009 12 oz. bottle, shared at Brew-club. Pours a thin beige head, no lacing, over a dark brown (SRM 30) clear body....nose is coffee, with mild malts.....taste is light coffee, cocoa, slightly sour on the finish....mouth feel is light, carbonation high. This is a light take on the style. Tasting of 11/21/09. weihenweizen (42), West Virginia, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Nov 24, 2009 Not very good. One of the worst I have had. Pours a nice dark brown and smells good. The taste is a little nutty, but other than that it was hard to drink. It is also watery. gracefullypunk (324), Washington, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Honey red brown with a few clings. Smells of brown sugar and chocolate malts. Body is fairly watery but taste isn’t bad. A bit smokey, a bit chocolatey, a bit caramely. Wish I had tried this while in NOLA when decent beers were hard to find. obguthr (1051), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 9/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Dark roasted malt aroma wih hints of fig and raisin. Clear brown, thin head, streams of carbonation. Watery, lightly sweet malt and fig. Balance and flavor improves upon warming, with neutral wood/nut notes replacing the sweetness. Slight cardboard finish. Weak overall and a poor representative of the style. dagimp (132), Philly, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 31, 2009 From a bottle into a pint glass. Pours with little to no head and no lacing. Not much aroma but a little smokey and a little chocolatey. Mouthfeel is good but a little too much carbonation. Taste is very good. Smokey and chocolatey, just like the smell but much more intense. No one flavor overpowers in this beer. It’s very drinkable and I could easily drink these all night. A lot of flavor packed into a low abv beer. Not usually a fan of this style but I may have to try some more of these. LtJudge (432), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
