The aroma is sweet and almost cherry like. The appearance is a dark brown that has crimson in it if you hold it to the light. The flavor is roasted malt, light hops, and some fruit. Burnt chemical aftertaste that detracts from an otherwise fantastic beer. ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA

Watery mouthfeel with a faint brown sugar taste. Not bad. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Slightly nutty aroma with some molasses. Sweet malty flavor with a watery finish. Not a lot going on here. I have no idea where they get off charging $10 a six pack for this. | 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | Aug 17, 2005 Big airy head (nice looking), but a sour mash aroma. Strange milky consistency and boringly vapid lack of much flavor ... just a sprig of caramel. GonZoBeeR (2161), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

For a proclaimed red ale, this one poured dark brown and slightly hazy with orangey highlights and a small beigey head. Aroma predominantly of sweet dark malts, molasses and a hint of fruit. Flavor is also malty with prunes, alfalfa and herby notes with an astringent finish. Light to medium body and slight carbonation. Nothing special. The rest of this beer is going into a bbq marinade now that I’ve tasted and rated... Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

Well anyhow a dark brown appearance. Some chocolate and plums in the aroma. A sweet dark malt flavor with some chocolate and dark fruit. A sour finish. It wasnt too bad.
