sayravai (3186), Helsinki, Finland Sep 13, 2008 (Draught) Opaque, dark orange-brown with a smallish, firm head. Strongly grainy, berryish, fruity, sweet aroma with a bit De Dolle -like yeastiness. The flavor is very similar to my memory of Stille Nacht, with very grainy, fruity maltiness, and lots of yeast. Very full-bodied, yet somewhat drinkable. A Nordic version of Stille Nacht, I like! Enjoyit (1108), Vadum, Denmark Aug 14, 2008 Dark amber of color with a orange head. An aroma of dark fruits, liqurice, port notes, pines, chocolate and caramel. Very nice aroma! A flavor of pines, caramel, chocolate, raisins, malty and hops. Psykling (12), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 18, 2008 Head and aroma promises strenght and warmth - and the taste sure delivers! Just one complaint: why such big glasses when served on tap? Almost too much. Taste is all strength, warming alcohol, with a bit of zinging burnt malt, butterscotch and port. Palate is almost acid-like in contact with tongue, and yet again concentrated around the alcohol. Overall, alcohol plays a central role in this brew, as in most Barley Wines - but I must say that this is the most enjoyable I’ve had in a long time, despite it’s rawness. Jukkabro (2405), Tampere, Finland May 7, 2008 Dark coppery colored with cloudy appearance. Little yellow head. Weird christmas spicy gingery-caardamom aroma with hints of raisins and hops, mild alcohol also here. Medium bodied. Flavor is also interesting with same ginger dominating with mild port wine and caramel. Aftertaste dries strongly with still this spiciness and thin positive cardboard and mild alcohol. Interesting though different devil here. oh6gdx (6343), Vaasa, Finland Sep 26, 2008 Draught@EBF2008. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head, some lace. Aroma is hops, grass, mild wood, cookies and some slight alcoholic sweetness. Flavour is nuts, hops, fruits, yeast and some alcohol. Very well balanced and pleasant.
